my drive to work

Aug 06, 2004 00:03

OK so i stop in east ATL for gas, and there's an OLD lady at the pump next to me. she's obviously confused and i ask if she wants help and she says no. as soon as i start to walk away, she says "what?".

i say "do you want help?". she says "yes, please." she's obviously confused, doesn't understand pay at the pump, etc. so i buy her a few dollars of gas, pump it for her... she explains she's been trying to find home for hours. i tell her the direction to go, where to turn, etc...she says it's really busy for a saturday.

it's thursday. this woman needs help, clearly. where's her family?!?!

i did the best i could, and it probably wasn't good enough.

THEN i'm driving to work and i hear beyonce's 'crazy in love', which last year at this time would make my ears bleed from overexposure.

BUT today i hear and it brings me back to last summer, visiting megan in the 212, when she learned to love the irish and coined the phrase "let's go outside and kiss". it was good times, my friends!

NEXT i get behind a guy with a bumper sticker that reads "just be nice". as i'm contemplating this, thinking just how true the bumper sticker is, i realize minutes later the sticker should read "just be a retard" because the ASSHOLE has his left blinker on for, like, a mile, and stretched out my commute an extra 5 minutes.

and people say atlanta's boring.
