Figures. It was only a matter of time before the so-called "Gods" started messing around with other peoples' lives again. Probably got bored up there on their perch

"And here I was believing that you had quit long ago."
Akabane walked up behind him, appearing silently from the shadows. His hand was one again on the brim of his hat, holding it in place as he looked up at the dark towers of the Limitless Fortress.
"Then I take it that you have long since forgotten about the deal we made less than a couple of years ago. Pity."
He glanced over at the younger man, still smirking lightly despite their present situation. "Do you really? I personally have very fond memories of it."
"Oh I remember it. No need to bring that back up."
A raised eyebrow despite his narrowed eyes. "You would." Exhaling again, Ban raked a hand through his hair, taking a second to look at the rings he wore, then led the way into the Limitless Fortress. Unlike Ginji, Ban had a better sense of direction, and was able to remember where the door leading inside was located.
She blinked slowly, vision blurred by sleep. It wasn't until she was able to get a good look at her surroundings that Rena bolted upright, suddenly wide awake. This didn't make any sense; the last thing she remembered was being back home, studying.
Finally, something familiar. Rena knew that voice - it was Midou-kun's wife, and though the older woman didn't speak to Rena often (barely would be putting it nicely), her voice was still recognizable.
Walking forward, Rider stepped out of the shadows so that Rena could see her better. "You have been asleep for some time. Now that you are awake, we can leave and find our way out of here."
Hours later and things had only gotten worse. Not only had they failed to find out where they were, but more and more monsters of the Beltline continued to appear, whittling down Rider's energy as she fought to save them and protect the other girl as well.
In the end, though, they were faced with a new group of men, and Rider knew that she didn't have the energy to keep fighting them one on one.
Just how long had they been there? After the short period of calm after their first adversary, the fights were relentless. No sooner would they defeat one gang and breathe for a few minutes than another one would come down upon them. They were determined to defeat the two females, but for what reason?
Rena could sense Rider's sapping strength as well, as much as the taller woman tried to play it off. It was more evident in the way Rider allowed Rena into the battles, seemingly welcoming the assistance. Now though, Rena shook her head, glancing down at her own bloodied hands before looking back up at the fresh wave of foes.
Rider wasn't sure how long they continued following the man, but it certainly felt like a while. During that time, the monsters didn't appear to them anymore, making her wonder if this person had been controlling the creatures to attack them in the first place.
"You can die, or you can cease to exist. Those are the only ones."
She'd been walking alongside Rider for some time now, still looking around. Cringing at how...final the man's words were, Rena looked up, opening her mouth to speak before closing it again. Just what could she say?
It felt like hours, and yet he couldn't tell if they'd even crossed into another section of the Fortress. Everything looked the same around here. Damn it.
Lighting a fresh cigarette, he blew out a bit of smoke, taking a look at their surroundings. It had been awhile since their last confrontation; then again, it had been too easy. There was no way they'd hit the Beltline just yet.
So far the men they had been getting rid of were just cannon fodder. They had yet to encounter any of the Beltline occupants that they had faced the last time they were there.
He flinched, jaw tensing. Goddamn, he hated Akabane's stupid pet names. Looking up, Ban narrowed his eyes at a security camera. It didn't look like it was functioning, but still...

"Tch. Light up when the occasion calls for it," he muttered, blowing out a cloud of smoke. "I hate this place."

She would have to use it. There really wasn't any other choice, and if their enemies were not all defeated after it...well...
Stepping forward, Rider held out her own spike, all before plunging it straight through her own throat.
