Coronation

May 06, 2008 14:21

I had Friday off so I met up with Gaby and Sandy. We had a girlie morning getting mani/pedi  and I got my eyebrows waxed. After that we went out for lunch. I left for the hotel at 3. I checked in, unpacked, went to hospitality for a drink and talked to a couple of people from Dallas. At 6, Robert my roommate for the weekend showed up after his work.

The out of town show was at 7 PM and then at 9:15 I went on the bar run/bus tour. We had two greyhound buses this year and two different bars/routes. The first one was called the Emperor's bus which went to Apollos, Cellblock and Friends. The second buss was called the Empress' bus which went to Charlies, The Rock and Kobalt. I went on the Emperor's bus. I was in charge of keeping and eye on Uncle Bill, the Emperor from Las Vegas. We had a such a good time at the bars. Uncle Bill drank too much so by the time we reached Friends we told him to stay on the bus so he can sleep a bit. Edward showed up at Apollos in his own car and just followed the bus as we went along. the two buses met up at Icepics at 1 AM. They had pizza and wings for us at the bar. We got back to the hotel by 2 AM. I had Edward stay the night since he had a few drinks and it was late.

Saturday morning I was awake and down in the ballroom by 8 AM and Edward went home. We had to set up the set for Coronation. We did most of the stuff by 11 so I went to some window shopping in the vendor room. I went to hospitality to eat and drink up there. I sat and talked to some old friends from San Diego (Randy, John/Brittany and AJ/Lady Ajax). I worked on the music for coronation and help finish up the set the rest of the afternoon and Don showed up at 4 so I helped him set up since he was doing a photo booth. I started to get ready at 5 when Edward showed up. Robert was already dressed and ready to go. I got JaGi ready and we went to Coronation at 6:30.

The night went by smoothly. Queen Mother JaGi, along with King Father Gary carried up the crowns in the first act then both of us were guest to the dais. When it came time for crowning there was a problem. The CPA didn't show up or call with the tallies and who won the election. Since Justice ran unopposed they crowned her as the new Empress and we were going to wait until brunch to find out who won for Emperor. After things settled down coronation ended and everyone went up to hospitality.

I had to work hospitality as a bartender but when someone came to ask for a mixed drink I had Edward make since I didn't know how to make them. Don was very popular in hospitality as well because at one point I noticed his boots, while he was still wearing them, was up in the air on the other side for the couch. I closed up the bar at 2 AM and we went down to the room. Edward went home and Don spent the night since he lives far from the hotel and we had to wake up early to work on the pictures he took.

On Sunday I helped Don work on the pictures from his photo booth. Edward showed up at 10 am then brunch was at 11 am. I was one of the 10 people who got to sit at the head table. I also was asked to be part of the procession to open the brunch (I got to carry the Emperor's robe). They announced that the new Empress Justice into the room and right behind her they announced that Joseph Brumley won as the new Emperor! Justice didn't even know until she turned around and she almost fell, if Michael wasn't hold on to her.

We had the Victory/Bird water Party at Icepics. Birdwater is a shot from the court of Alaska. What you do is lie down on a pool table (covered of course) and the Empress or Emperor straddles you and pours the shot down your throat. It was a dollar per shot and over the course of 4 hours they raised $805 for the travel fund. After the party a bunch of us went to Apollos and then to Kobalt.
