Xfusion update #9

Tonight's session:

In attendence: Chris Gordon, Joe Trainor, Shawn Trainor

Chris revisited some ideas on 'Disease'....harmonizing a couple of things and adding a wha-guitar bit to the pre-chorus. After that it was full steam ahead into 'Shell Shock'. This took a while. 20 minutes with at least 6 parts. We slowly worked our way through all the sections, double tracking all of the rhythm parts. In the end, we didn't even bother trying to cut leads. On a day very soon, CG will get to spend his whole time playing 1298763491827346 a second...but not tonight.

He took a crack at 'This Place This Time' but realized he wanted the parts to be acoustic and clean Strat, so we moved on to 'Sand'. He cut all of the rhythm parts (double tracked) and did the little 5/4 bit towards the end on the lead track and despite 'Sand' being 14 minutes long, it was put to bed in under an hour. Afterward he moved back to the crunchier bits of 'This Place This Time' before calling it a night.

All that's left to do for Chris is the acoustic parts (in everything but 'Disease'). Anything he wants to use the Strat for (which is probably everything) and ALL of his leads (including the multi-harmony bits to 'Sand'). He should be able to get all of this done between Tuesday & Thursday. I'm coming in on Saturday to finish all my keyboard parts before we drag the wounded and weary Jerry in on Sunday for the bass parts. That'll have me focusing on vocals starting in just over a week. We are definately on schedule to have it wrapped up by February 1st (except for the mixing and whatnot).

I guided Chris through a couple of chord changes tonight, but other that that I just spent 9 hours playing Gran Torismo 4 on Shawn's PS2....everybody wins!!!

Next up: Chris on Tuesday...
