We saw a shooting star. It fell so quickly, arcing a path over the rooftops of south east london before disappearing into a chimney-pot. It all happened within a matter of seconds, but we both saw it and squeezed each others hands as an indication. It looked kind of green to me - for the split second it was in my field of vision - a beautiful, luminous, twinkly green on the horizon.
It made me happy. I've only ever seen one shooting star before, and that was in my garden on my own. The fact that I got to see this one with someone special, on our way home from an evening out makes the moment the most perfect.
There should be more shooting stars. Though if there were, everyone would see them all the time and they wouldn't be as important any more. Best to leave them the way they are, I think.
