Yesterday I met up with
miss_tristesse in town and we were really cheesy and pretended that we didn't know each other very well and did clumsy first date kind of things. It was great fun and not at all tacky, or at least I didn't find it so - I just had a super time, as I seem to so oft these days.
We started with flowers and chocolate at the train station, I'd bought some new threads especially for the occasion so I didn't look too disheveled and sweaty (as is my usual look in this sort of weather). After that we headed to the cinema for much sweet/salty popcorn mix and a pretty good film. As we walked through leicester square we saw the superman premiere in full swing, which was rather exciting. Superman himself was there, though he appeared as a mix between Clark Kent and himself, wearing a suit but no glasses and signing many an autograph. The best thing was the cinema itself - a gigantic superman cut-out was holding the "superman returns" sign aloft at a crooked angle. This pleased me greatly. It's always the simple things, isn't it?
Anyway, after the film, which wasn't superman but was still enjoyable stuff, we retreated to a 50s style diner for burgers and a berry shake. This was superb - much like being in Back to the Future. Mmmmm. Next time we'll have to find the Cafe 80s...
I had a lovely date, and hope to do more of the same in the not too distant future.
Prior to this I met
leeree in town for tea and mooching. We went to the national gallery which was nice and quiet and air conditioned and full of pictures of biblical proportions. They sure loved jesus back in the 1500s. We decided what the gift shop was lacking was one of those little pens where you can see a lady fully clothed, then, by clicking the end you can make her clothes fall off, but with jesus and his loin cloth. Someone needs to get onto this right away.
Wednesday saw Caggy travel up to birmingham, so I took the chance to head in an almost similar direction and go to leicester to see
princesspoodle and Tom W. I arrived and was captured, but as I didn't resist flesh eating was not necessary. We ate a delicious croque sandwich (like a toasted sandwich, but made a darnsight better by adding an extra slice of bread in the middle), then went to a maze-like toy store, then to a variety of pubs and bars. Gemmie took me on a mini beer garden tour of leicester and we had cocktails and pimms. Then we went to a gay bar by accident, which was also very nice. I met Carys on the way back at New Street and we headed home together, red cheese and origami paper in-tow.
To be honest life has been very exciting of late, I can't possibly list all the exciting events in one post. Other highlights have included dancing at How Does It Feel, going to The Social, Portobello Road market, Notting Hill, The Prince Charles Cinema and Wagamamas. Future highlights include going to Hay on Wye, Moles, Devizes Cinema, Superman, and my birthday!
