My 15 yo went home yesterday so my personal life returns to normal. I miss her a little because she was great kid but its nice to just chilll again and not have to think about what to make for dinner and all those wierd maternal things, LOL.
But anyway, work was awful last week. The woman who had worked for us for 4 years, whom we had been through SO much drama over, did, indeed have a criminal record where she was involved with theft over 20k. She collected the checks from a made up employee for over a year before an audit found the irregularities. She plea bargained to a lesser charge and had a defered judgement; she is on probation for 10 years. She had said that she was not on probation and that she had the papers from her lawyer to prove it. She never produced such info,or the lawyer to clear it up. In fact, our lawyer could not find anything saying that she had been cleared. So she lied to us. How can you not know you are on probation? We made the painful decision to let her go. Given the sensitive nature of the information that she was entitled to, there was no way we could have maintained her in that position. She said that she thought we knew about her record. We were like, no, we didn't. If we had, we would not have given her the position that she had.
Necessity or not, it sucked to have to let her go. She can't work closely with someone, know their families, share their termoil, and not become close to them. I just have this feeling of regret, and even some betrayal. And I really feel stupid for trusting her. I wish we had donethe background check but she came to us through friends and she was screened by the former OM. I guess ultimately, you have to anything important yourself.
But I am ok.Or getting there at least. I have 4 days to get out of my apt so I think that will keep me busy. I am so ready for some real away time.
Anyway, other wise, all is good. I am going to get back into my exercise routine after I get settled into my place. At least hauling boxes up and down3 flights stairs will be exercise! :D
