Lest We Forget
Today the national guard was sent in to curb the rapidly escalating violence in New Orleans. WOW! The nation has largely forgotten about Katrina and its aftermath, but, since I'm moving down there I've had pause to reflect on what really happened on the ground.
So, I searched for the interview that Mayor Nagin did on a local radio show. This is the unvarnished truth of the matter, minus all spin. This is the only moment of sanity. When I searched for the transcript, CNN's appeared somewhat different than I remembered... I guess the history is written by the victors. CNN and the news coverage resulted in huge ratings, surely at even the moment of this interview. This happened in the middle of it all...
