Last week progressed as normal for me. Dave moved out on Saturday, and I got to see Conrad in a non-dance club environment for the first time in a very long time. It was awesome to see him again. Heh. My sister was there, so Dave got to see Lex for the first time ever, too.
Lessee. What else have I been up to? Oh, yeah. The week was, as I said, pretty normal. Work during the day, and vegetating at home in the evening.
Saturday was fun. I started out the morning at a friend's wedding. It was beautiful and of course the bride and groom were glowing. I am so happy for Lori! :)
I also went to the
Victorian Elegance show in Richardson with
annawick (and the Lex, of course) and
finari. Annie took some really nice photos of several Victorian era and a few Edwardian era gowns. So beautiful! I'll try to get them up on thewolfhound.com sometime this evening.
The next show is Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, 2006. Whee!
Annie and I have a lot of grandiose plans to make ourselves one or two bustle dresses now. Of course, we've both wanted to for ages, but we are such slackers, heh. Actually, I think my delays stem from a fear of doing it all wrong, since I still have so much to learn. I need to organize my time at home better so I can actually really get to work on my hobbies. I need to buy some basic books on sewing and costuming as well. I don't know how to do cartridge pleats, or put linings in bodices. Or make a corset, for that matter. I have so much to learn!
Annie and Lex stayed the night Saturday, and I discovered that my living room is pretty easily child-proofed. That was cool. ^_^ Lex sure does motor around!
Sunday morning was of course church. Then Annie left shortly after that. Carol came over and I helped her with some things for work, then we worked on her character concept and history for the GoT game that Matt'll be starting up in January. After we finished that up, I went over to her house and we watched
The Triumph of Love. That movie is so silly, but I love it. It was a classic Commedia dell'Arte style film, which is very amusing, and the costumes are beautiful. I'm not sure if critics like it, but I do.
I'm really liking this new 40" that Mark gave us. It still amuses me that the original owners got rid of it because it doesn't receive broadcast television. Since Matt and I don't watch broadcast programs but pretty much just movies, it's perfect for us. Heh. Its position in our dining room is going to be short-lived, though. I rearranged the guest bedroom after Dave left and shifted all my sewing stuff in there. My new treadle now has a home. I also moved and re-folded and organized all my fabric. I don't think I have enough. I guess I'll have to do something about that. ^_~
After I finished shifting all my sewing stuff, I started re-arranging the TV room. Matt put together a bookcase and did some modifications on it so it would have more shelves. We have a bajillion DVDs that need a good place to stay. Next, he will do some more modifications on the other shelf so it will match. Then I'll stock it up with paperbacks. Whee! We also need to find a heavy-duty table or something that will support that huge 40"...
We're going to move the old entertainment system and TV into the guest room so I can watch movies while I'm sewing. I think I may put my painting stuff in the guest room, too. Maybe I ought to decorate that room. Like put up some pictures or something... I suck at interior decorating, though. I'm a put-up-lots-of-bookshelves-and-call-it-done kind of girl. ^_~ All the interesting decorations around our house were done by Matt. He's got a good eye for that. Hm. Well, I'll think of something. And if it stays like it is, I'll be ok with that.
Wow. This got a lot longer than I originally intended, so I'll call it here.
