The Weekend Update

Sad stuff out of the way first: Kendra's funeral is on Wednesday. I'm not sure if I will go... However, I may, simply to give support to Greg.

This weekend was pretty busy but very productive.

I had to work Saturday morning from 8am to noon, as did the rest of the shop. We have a big contract of 35k plus pieces that need to be done by Wed, and since we're acid dipping and polishing them to give them that nice antiqued look, that adds a few extra steps of production that we don't do for our own product. So Saturday morning I was bagging 'em and getting 'em ready to ship out.

Saturday afternoon I had a long visit with my longest-time friend. She's been my friend since we were thirteen, and was truly a pillar of strength that I needed as a teen and young adult. She supported me in my convictions and beliefs, watched my back on so many occasions, and was such a help in so many, innumerable ways.

Unfortunately, due to various life situations, misunderstandings, and miscommunications, we haven't been as close as we once were or would like to be. We have still been in contact over the years, but our friendship became, over time, more superficial. At different times, one or the other of us would reach out, hoping to repair and otherwise improve our friendship, but the other would not be totally receptive, and the efforts would cease. However, after our long talk, I think we cleared the air quite a bit, and finally both of us are willing and ready to make the effort to repair our friendship. I don't know that we'll ever be as close as we once were, but it will be nice to be numbered among her close friends, and to number her among mine.

Sunday was actually pretty relaxing. I woke up early, got my lesson ready (I teach the three year-olds), then piddled around on the computer until church at 2:10. After church, we came home and piddled around some more, and I played some CoH. Yes, nice, relaxing, mindless entertainment. ^_^

So today, although I haven't had a full weekend off since June 1, I am feeling relaxed and refreshed.

update, m, friends
