Jay's New Toy

Oct 20, 2006 14:37

As some of you know, Matt and I want to have children in the near-ish future. However, our vehicles are not child friendly, as they are both two-door tiny subcompacts. Well, the Hyundai Accent is a subcompact. Matt's Civic may be just a compact. We've been keeping our eye out, more or less casually, for a good deal on a more family oriented vehicle, from minivans to SUVs. I couldn't get excited about a minivan, but I thought that if I was going to get a family car it would have to be something with an automatic transmission, so it may as well be a minivan.

I got a new toy last night and I am so excited! It's a four cylinder, front wheel drive, manual transmission Saturn VUE. It's a 2003 and has 57,000 miles on it. All that sounds unappealing to most, but it was exactly what I wanted (although, of course, less miles would have been better, but with a manual transmission it's not quite as bad as it would have been). And some more on the plus side, it is fully loaded, with leather interior, heated seats, six disc CD player, moon (sun?) roof, and more stuff. The blue book value for a VUE in this condition is around $14K. But even more on the plus side, it is all mine for just under $10,000! Whee!!!

Bye-bye, my little Hyundai! You served me well.
