"Are you ok? You look down," she gently touches his slumped shoulders.
"She's not talking to me again," he doesn't look up. His head drops in between his arms.
She sighs quietly to herself, her hand still resting on his shoulder. Her heart races as their proximity, but her mind scolds her for her desperate actions. She pities him; she hurts to see him hurting; but what can she do, he loves that girl too much. She doesn't know who that girl is besides her name and face. Lately, all she can think of is how much better of a girlfriend she can be for him. That guilt that floods through her each time that thought crosses her mind is suffocating, yet her own hidden feelings suffocate her even more.
"I'm sure she's just busy," she lies. She wants to tell him she's not worth it, and he should find someone better. Someone like me.
" How long can she always be busy?" He glances up, and her hand wavers as she looks into his eyes. She finds herself lost and sad in his eyes, for all she can see is his miserable love for another girl.
She can't answer him. The words won't come to her.
