So we are bringing a walk-around character costume to the Science Center next year and I am in charge of making sure that we don't kill the people who are inside the costume (it has a heavy head piece that fits down over the shoulders and includes a fan in the top.)
I am wondering if any of you folks who used to do walk-around characters could point me in the right direction for any rules or regulations (how long in the costume versus how long for a break before being able to put on the character again.)
I guess I'm sort of looking for a guide book or a web-site or even personal experiences you might have. (Are there union or OSHA regulations?)
Here's what I have already told the higher ups:
1. We need a person to act as escort/body guard
2. I am recommending 15-20 minutes in costume with a 30 minute break before going back out.
Thanks kids!
