“Ow!” you yelped as you collided with the wall in the hallway head-on. It was already the end of a horrible day at university; you couldn’t find your glasses and ended up unable to focus in class because of it. The entire day was spent stumbling all over the place and shouting apologies and after finally making it home at dusk, you still managed to injure yourself in the darkness of your home.
Feeling around for the light switch in the darkness, you stopped when you heard a voice floating through the air.
“Emily~”
You stopped in your tracks as you heard his melodic voice. He wasn’t supposed to be home for at least another hour, which greatly surprised you.
“Let’s play a game,” he called out in a singsong voice. “Follow my voice and you’ll find your glasses, hm?”
As your hand finally reached the light switch, you were about to flip it on when a voice interrupted your actions. “Ah, ah, ah! No lights!”
“What?” you shouted out to the darkness in complete disbelief.
You jumped as you felt a breath ghost over your shoulder. “No lights. This isn’t about seeing, love.”
And just as quick as the voice appeared next to you, it disappeared as light footsteps traveled away from you quickly.
Trying to adjust your eyes to the darkness, your efforts were soon deemed futile when you realized your vision wasn’t great without your glasses anyway. Relying only on your hearing and your touch to get you through his game, you gradually made your way down the hallway, using your hands to guide you around the house you shared with him. “Junsu?” you called out.
The only response you got was the sound of shuffling feet on the carpet.
Following the sound with your heightened senses, you knew you were in the kitchen when you no longer felt carpet under your feet but instead hard wood. Noticing that the house was shrouded in complete darkness, you realized that he planned this all along as your hands ran across the pulled down cotton drapes.
“Where are you?” you called out, circling around the granite counter cautiously to avoid bumping into any corners.
“I’m everywhere you are, Em,” he quietly replied, his breath fluttering across your skin again.
Before you had a chance to reach around to make a grab at him, the man ran away again, chuckling softly as his voice diminished into the darkness with distance.
After a few more minutes of the chase, you came to the realization that there was only one room you hadn’t entered during this entire game of his: the bedroom.
Feeling your way to the room, you let out a tiny cry of triumph as you finally grasped the doorframe. You entered the pitch-black room and heard another chuckle emit from the man in charge of this moonlight chase.
“You know, this would have been quicker if you let me turn on the lights instead,” you pointed out, a pout and a dash of irritation evident in your voice.
And the voice appeared again, this time hovering right next to you.
“But what would be the fun in that, hm?” he asked, his lips so close to your ear that his breath prickled against your skin.
You jumped in fright as you felt his proximity to you, your heart rate spiking in surprise.
“Shh…” he whispered in an attempt to calm you down as he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, pulling your body against his. Kissing your cheek lovingly, he rested his chin on your shoulder and continued. “I came home early and saw your glasses on the kitchen counter so I figured you were having a bad day,” he said as he swayed you back and forth.
Your irritation slowly dissipated as you unconsciously leaned back into him, letting him sway you to the rhythm at his desired tempo. “It was a terrible day,” you admitted. “I couldn't get any work done at all, but I went to class so I wouldn’t be marked absent.” You paused as you debated on continuing. “I couldn’t see anything. I just felt so useless today…” trailing off and ending with a sigh.
He nuzzled your neck, tickling your cheek with his soft hair before humming. “You don’t get it, do you, Em?”
You tilted your head to look at him in confusion. Being only mere centimeters apart, you could just make out the twinkle in his teardrop shaped eyes. His plump lips curved upward into a smile as he rubbed his hands in soothing circles on your hips.
“Seeing isn’t everything,” he pointed out as he leaned in closer until your noses were touching. “Sometimes, it’s better to just feel,” he ended he tilted his head down to meet your lips for a sweet kiss.
