Dear Yuletide Writer --
I pretty much covered everything that's important to me in my sign-up, but just in case:
For The Wire, I would be very happy with a story focusing on any one of the characters I named (Stringer Bell, Avon Barksdale, Kima Greggs, Omar Little, Bodie, Bubbles, Lester Freamon, Bunk), or any combination of them. There's really not a character I dislike, so feel free to introduce any secondary characters you like, although if there's one thing I'm not crazy about, it's stories focusing on The Exquisite Pain of Jimmy McNulty. As I said in the sign-up, I really love the tone and feel of the series, so if that was reflected in the story I'd be ecstatic. But seriously, I love so much about The Wire, pick your favorite aspect and go crazy.
I was so happy to have this option, and I'd be so thrilled for a story about them. Write about both, either, their pasts, their present, their future, canon or AU, it's all good. Except a break-up!
I am newly into The Like, so I'm pretty much fascinated with everything about them. I love stories about bands on the road -- or off the road but on a road trip -- or in the studio. If you feel like going the AU route, I'd prefer something with a wackier premise (they're spies in space! or Amish firefighters! or -- I'm sure you can think of something better). Although I've thought of an exception to the wacky-AU route: it's rare that a Catholic schoolgirl uniform goes amiss with me.
Here's a post about some things I find romantic in stories -- although absolutely no need to write anything romantic if you're not feeling it, I'd be very happy with gen for any of these, especially The Wire.
