The closest book to me (it was right there on the coffee table and, despite the title, it is NOT a comic book) was Murder at Wayne Manor by Duane Swierczynski.
"But this mask was taken to a grotesque extreme. It looked like an osidian statue of a fierce warrior who had melted while screaming, leaving this horrific fossil behind... dressed in a pin-striped suit and fedora.
'Who are you?' I asked.
'The Black Mask of Fate, Mr. Wayne. I've come for you at long last.'
Then he nodded."
