I Have (Sort of) Achieved My goal!

I read my fiftieth book the other day, although it (like the last several) were children's books for Landon. I am going to try to read a few more adult books before the end of the year, but hopefully everyone will be understanding. Landon has recently heard The Lively Little Rabbit about a rabbit whose family is under attack by a weasel (his grandmother on his father's side gets eaten, which is how I learnt, as a child, what 'mother's side' and 'father's side' of a family meant) until he and some friends build a big fake dragon and scare it away. He has also heard The Gnome from Nome about how having friends keeps you warm and, best of all Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, an illustrated selection from A.E. Milne's full length Winnie the Pooh books in which Winnie the Pooh tried to trick the bees into thinking he is a little rain cloud so he can get close and steal their honey, but it turns out that they are the wrong sort of bees.

Hopefully I will soon finish the Penguin History of Latin America, but I am on a chapter about 20th century art and literature and stuff, and it is a little slow. I've also been very busy with school and Landon, and have also spent quite a bit of time that I would normally have devoted to reading on watching Battlestar Galactica, which I really enjoyed and want to watch again. Still, I look forward, once I've finished my present book, to reading Colonel Roosevelt about the last decade of Theodore Roosevelt's life, and his post-presidential adventures.
