I'm terribly disapointed. Both because Last of the Time Lords was not as good as the previous season enders but it was also not as good as the episodes that immediatly preceded it.
Sound of Drums and Utopia were wonderful.
LotTL not so much. And the key of is the connecting point of the plot threads. How to save/deage the doctor and break the masters control.
because there was much to love in this ep. Martha Jones, Stuff of legend, traveling the world, teaching people how to use the master's own psychic network against him. The power of words. The power of belief.
the master and the doctor. - I liked all the interplay between these two, and I loved Lucy and the Master. I'm even willing to go with her channeling Drucilla.
DO NOT WANT jack=face of boe, I am strikeing that from my personal canon.
DO NOT WANT ageing the doctor/the masters super wonder wand. I understand needing a way to subdue the Doctor but this was a bad choice, not to mention it wreaks havok with the ageing rate of time lords and there is no excuse for the crack of it having control over regenerations. EVERYTHING about the aging the doctor in this bit was BAD.
DO NOT WANT the fact of what Martha was preaching, belief in the doctor. Not Humanity saving itself, but powering up the doctor so he could save them. Poor poor execution.
DO NOT WANT The silence. after everything else, to have so much feeling for the Master and so little for Martha. She deserved better than that. Can I just ...smack the writers or something.
I just...They lost me when the Master said prayer is useless and then the psychic power deaged the Doctor.
1. the doctor is an alien not a god. NOT A GOD. prayer is a bad word choice here when trying to avoid messianic overtones.
2. The doctor is not a particuarly good psychic there is no reason for him to get a POWERUP from the combinded psychic powers of the earthlings.
3. I do believe in fairies. but properly it's Tinkerbell = Tardis Doctor=Peter Pan Companion=Wendy/Lost boys
