i think i have a problem.
well, i should say i have always had this problem.
i can't live around mismatched furniture in a dorm like setting.
ask anyone. in 4th grade i decorated my friends treehouse. wallpaper and everything.
so this co habitating with a male....well it brought together a lot of mismatched furniture, a lot of ikea furniture....
and no bed.
its been mattress on the floor with several different patterns of bedding.
torture!
so i made myself a promise that goes along with being successful in school. make my apt. perfect.....and cheap.
step one. get rid of folding chairs as real chairs!
good god. this poor chair was 20 bucks and...was suffering from shabby chic syndrome. its been sanded and painted flat black and will be covered in a fox print fabric from spoonflower!
i drove all the way up to camas WA at 8pm to get these georgeous antique nightstands for $40. are you kidding me!
they are tall and skinny and have storage without being bulky (in an apt everything must double as storage)
sating black and ceramic hardware from anthropologie. i am so in love.
this is my crowning glory. i love upholstered headboards. and i was planning on making one. but i needed a frame first. and i hadnt been able to find a frame that was decent for under 150. until i saw an ad on CL for a mattress with free frame and diy upholstered headboard..i called and the guy said "oh sorry i just sold the mattress" to which i said
"do you still have the frame?"
"yes i do"
"ill be there in 10"
i got an entire frame and headboard for 20!! its solid wood. the headboard was an ordeal. its 5ft by 5ft and heavy. unusually heavy. the previous owner upholstered a existing headboard with 2(!) pieces of 1/2inch thick plywood. it was padded with carpet padding (on both sides) muslin (on both sides) and then finally safety pinned on...white vinyl.
i dismantled the beast and started over.i will say. the padding is the most expensive part.
and as of last night.
the frame is now a satin black instead of icky cherry wood. i was goin to tuft it but the print is soo bold.
now i have all of the pieces its time to get it all together today. i am so excited.
