Here are two random photos from Hawai'i, the Big Island. These are actually from our first trip in March 2007, but I'm just a wee bit behind on editing and posting photos.

That's a juvenile black-crowned night heron - Nycticorax nycticorax. The scientific name, which means "night raven", supposedly relates to their nocturnal tendencies and corvidic call.
