Sunday's concert, Stolen Babies + In This Moment + Within Temptation + Lacuna Coil, was the best I've ever been to.
I'll try not to get too long-winded about my description as I am wont to do. I'll stick to what stood out most.
I was amazed by the Stolen Babies singer and how she managed to change facial expressions to make herself look different shades of out of her fucking mind.
I bought a shirt of each band and put on the Stolen Babies one, had Dominique Persi (the singer) and the bassist (Rani) sign my stomach. Had the drummer and keyboardist sign my poster. Made small-talk with the singer while Kevin got his poster signed, but I suck at small-talk so I'm sure it was assinine and immemorable!
In This Moment is too screamo for my taste. But they had a moment. "Happy Mother's day everyone. This one... is for your Muthers!"
Within Temptation was the best performance of them all. And we are goddam lucky to have been there. If this was Holland or Germany, seeing Within Temptation would mean having to be in a crowd of thousands.
Sharon Den Adel was looking radiant. It was all in her smile. I've never felt a singer connect with the crowd as much as she did.
WT was a tough act to follow, and so when Lacuna Coil came on, I enjoyed myself, but I wasn't blown away.
Cristina Scabbia is adorable though. She looks pretty much exactly like she does on photo (albeit with frizzier hair). I never realized how pocket-sized (petite) she is. And she was chock-full of energy on stage.
