So there were like 2-3 dreams that I'm trying to write down this morning.
The first one started out in a compound of sorts that turned into a university. I'm not sure, but there was a fenced-in area of buildings that I was "trapped" inside. I had a big truck and I was doing some construction or taking photos of a driveway that was under construction-- doing engineering things-- and I must have taken a photo of something someone didn't want to see. So, I hopped in a white company (I think) truck and drove away while people in those reflective vests chased after me. I drove the truck to this building that looked like the main auditorium at University of Arizona... and tried to drive down the aisle to "jump" out the window at the back of the stage (it was a dream, remember?)... and then my truck changed into a motorbike/motorcycle... but I couldn't make the jump because there were too many people there, so I took a hard right and motorbiked across the theater, exiting out to the street and off the sidewalk....
... where I stepped into another dream...
Now, I was in my car-- it was my white traverse (one vehicle)-- and I'm driving in either Pennsylvania or Idaho or California... (again, dream here). I'm on a road trip with my family. The same family members as on the previous road trip from this summer... with one exception. I have a third child, a daughter who is a couple years younger than my youngest. I don't know her name. I called her "hey you". Anyway... I'm driving in this parking lot with snow, trying to park my car. I've never really driven in snow. I try to park on an incline, make it into the spot, but before I can throw on the parking break, the car drifts back and I'm forced to steer the vehicle to avoid colliding with another car parked behind us. Anyway, I slide around the parking lot trying to correct and park on flatter terrain. In the dream it takes like 20 minutes before, after another narrow miss with another parked car, I tell my dad to park it and I get out.
This is when "hey you" asks to use the bathroom-- so I send her out and my eldest child, my real son who I call "Minion 1", says he'll go with "hey you". My dad gets into the car and parks it without any issues with sliding or anything. I remember throwing my hands up, exasperated. I wait a bit for "hey you" to return, but she doesn't. Minion 1 does return and tells me he doesn't know what's taking so long but he can't go into the women's restroom and he says he hasn't seen "hey you" come out.
So, I hike up the hill to the public restroom-- while everyone else unloads from the car and goes into the museum we're visiting-- and I see there are two stalls. She's taken off all her clothes and is squatting above a child's size toilet in the larger stall... where there's wire mesh with about 4" spacing on the wires as a floor. (Again, it's a dream... it makes no sense.)
"Hey you, is everything okay?"
"Yeah, mom. I'm just finishing up here."
"Okay, everyone was wondering what happened to you."
"I know."
She finishes up, gets dressed, and runs off...
... and when I step out of the bathroom I'm suddenly inside the museum...
These two women are telling me about another nearby museum that also happens to have a rather large exhibit in the museum we're visiting. It's about the William-Dunn-Edwards Train Wreck. (I was probably subconsciously thinking about my husband painting drywall... because c'mon, dunn-edwards?... and yesterday he was repairing drywall that was damaged because termites had eaten the stud that the curtain rod was connected into-- we've already had the termites taken care of and now we're finding what they'd eaten... I assume it's because the idiots who "fixed" the house didn't use the treated wood around the bottom of the door frame like code says to use, but that's another story for another day when I have more money to investigate what they did and repair it... we just did a temporary fix). Anyway...
There were two women telling me about the William-Dunn-Edwards Train Wreck, and we're standing in front of the exhibit.
"I plan on going to that museum right after I finish this one because it's just down the road."
"Oh, that sounds fun. Maybe I'll do that too and see you over there." Somehow, in the dream, I instinctively know it's 2pm despite the dark, night-like skies outside. I also know the museum closes at 5pm (like most museums).
I turn to look at the exhibit. It's in a case that starts with a wood base/rectangular frame about 2 feet tall and then it has clear glass or plastic at a 45-degree angle that makes the case about 5-feet tall total. Inside the case is a black and white photo that's been kinda built out like a 3D model of the opening of a railroad tunnel. There's a couple guys in tattered cowboy hats and raggedy brown jackets and pants with dirty white shirts underneath. Then, there's a bunch of small license plate or engraved bricks lining the bottom of the case-- I guess they were some of the ID tags of people who had died in the train wreck.
... don't ask about the train wreck. There's not much information on it in the dream. I guess my brain decided to "make a cool exhibit" and then not make up the story.
Anyway, I'm looking at the exhibit thinking about how we ought to go to the other museum when the dream ends and I wake up.
