So, I've ranted and raved about how the culture from our "friends" on the southern border before. Tonight, I have a gem of a story. Today, we were at Jordan's 'rents house after a baby blessing for Ty and Moriah's new kid, Logan. One of the family's friends happens to be a cop. He was on duty, but didn't have any calls, so he stopped by for a moment... and told us the following story.

As he was pulling up to Jordan's 'rents' house, he saw these two kids on bikes. One of the kids blew through a stop sign right in front of him, so as a safety thing and to teach the kid that they have to obey street signs too, he stopped him just to talk to him. He asked the kid, "So, did you see that stop sign back there? I could have hit you because you didn't obey the street sign." The kid said he'd seen the sign, but he didn't know he was supposed to stop at the sign because he was from Mexico and didn't know the laws in the USA. So, the cop told the kid that he was s'posed to stop at stop signs in the USA too. Then he asked why he wasn't wearing his helmet like the law says. The kid's response? "Because I'm Mexican."

Oh, it gets better.

Cop asks the kid for his phone number and calls his mom. The mom answers the phone in Spanish. The cop asks the mom if she speaks English because her son said she did. Then he tells her what the kid said. The mom asked the cop to put her son on the phone where I'm sure she had some choice words for her son for giving lip to a cop.

So... make of it what you will.... true story, though.
