An Update of Sorts

I've been keeping mum about motorbike accident stuff because I haven't really had the energy to talk about that. Firstly, it's still frustrating to know that one day everything is going fine and then in a single moment someone's random mistake/neglect can so suddenly and completely eviscerate the little joy out of life that we had going on for a short while there.

Jordan rides his motorbike for stress relief... being that he doesn't have one, he's been quite stressed. Especially since he's still in pain. It's also frustrating because insurance companies are frustrating-- the other driver's insurance STILL has not claimed liability.

Jordan's been going to a chiropractor, because after 3-weeks of pain he wanted to do something. On week 4, our doctor finally gave him a referral to a physical therapist. Jordan told the chiropractor he only wanted to do one-- you could tell the guy was upset that Jordan said no to his therapy... but Jordan feels like the physical therapy is helping him heal faster. So besides insurance companies and crazy chiropractors and the paralegal not returning our phone calls in a timely manner... things are going... slow and it's completely frustrating. But that's an update on that.

Meanwhile, the accident has completely trashed our finances. We were just getting on our feet when the accident happened. Now, Jordan's been out of work for a month. Bills are rolling in... and I cringe every time I have to open the mailbox.

With the holiday coming up, we have no time off to go anywhere early nor time to stay late. Besides all that, we've been invited several times to go vacationing with family-- Jordan's family is celebrating Josh's birthday (Jordan's brother) by going water skiing... which Jordan can't do AND my family is going to San Diego... which Jordan can't do either because sitting in a car for that long would make him hurt and he wouldn't be able to stretch. The alternative is to stay home, which we ARE doing... since we bought yards and yards of fabric earlier this year before the crap started, we're going to be working on Halloween costumes this weekend. I also want to work on the back yard, but that depends entirely upon how MY back and MY knees are feeling as well as how much extra money we have... which is asymptotically approaching zilch. (Math joke there...)

Jordan did go back to work Monday this week-- nearly a month after the accident... he's not working full-time, but rather stopping when he hurts too badly. If he had any other occupation, he could probably tough it out, but as a machinist who works with heavy machinery he can't really do his job if his arm starts to shake because he's in too much pain. GRRRR. His work also doesn't want him to be a safety issue-- especially so close to the poor shop accident involving the Yale student whose hair got caught in a lathe and ripped her face off (killing her too).

Jordan walked at graduation. I convinced him to do it anyway-- even if those chairs were quite painful-- because you only get to do it once and it's better to do it and wish you hadn't than to regret not walking... even if it was for two associates degrees, it's still an accomplishment and should still be celebrated.

Jordan's sister and mother put together an after-graduation party and made all sorts of foodstuffs. It was delicious. Jordan was glad he went (as far as I know)... and it took him a day or so to recover. *sigh*
