An Old "Friend"

Last night, I was looking for a copy of this month's book club book at the (crappy) used book store chain, Bookman's. I was also looking for a copy of the "Chicano!" textbook they use for those crappy ethnic study courses (the books that allegedly teach kids how to protest). Anyway, I happened to walk by a shelf in the history section and I saw a textbook that I'd used for one of my courses.

Now, I'd had to sell this book to afford to buy books for my next semester of school. So, out of some sense of nostalgia I picked it up and looked at it. Turns out, it was actually the exact copy I'd used in college.

How could I tell?

I wrote in my textbooks all the time. I wrote in this one. Opening the front cover, I saw my own scribbled handwriting with the review session date, time and location. I'd also hi-lighted all the articles I had to read for classes. It was my EXACT copy from 8-ish years ago.

So, the next question you're probably asking is "Did you buy it?"

My answer? NOPE. $8 is way more than that old textbook is worth. =)
