July 4th Weekend: Going Home

Jul 06, 2009 20:07

Sunday was the most relaxing Jordan and I have had in a while. We woke up and I kept my promise about seeing Transformers later in the week. I liked it better than the first one, but still not-so-much. I felt the end was over-done... The big battle at the end was half the stinking movie.

"We're 2 miles away!"

... 10 minutes later... "We're 1 mile away!"

... 10 minutes later... "We're 3/4 of a mile away!"

... 10 minutes later... "We're 600 yards away!"

By the time they actually got to where they were going, I hoped Shia's character would just die so the movie would end-- let the Deceptacons destroy the planet and save me from this terrible movie! It was 2.5 hours long! I know where I'd have shaved those extra 30-minutes off...

Other things I didn't like about it were the fact they probably could have done the whole movie in CGI for all the robot scenes... granted, it WAS a robot movie... but plot would have been nice. The plot at the beginning was good, but it fizzled out after you meet a grizzled, old transformer, a scene that was probably the best in the whole movie... and it was mostly CGI.

We hung out the rest of the day... watching the fourth Harry Potter film... Jordan made us a late lunch... and then we packed up our bags and drove home.

We had issues on the drive home. I was completely exhausted. Jordan had a heat headache. I took over for him thinking he'd help keep me awake. I kept wanting to drift off to sleep. I pulled into the McDonald's in Florence to change drivers. While we were there, some woman was asking for directions to Tucson. I mentioned they could follow us if they wanted... I guess this was her first time taking "the back way"... which can be confusing but if you just "go straight" you manage alright.

Jordan helped me unpack... and then I went to sleep (something I will do early tonight too).
