Wow. This week really wrapped up nicely. I was pretty leery after Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday I scrambled to get into some cross-training seminars for hydrology-- Hydraulic and Hydrologic stuff... HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS... flood modeling software. It was a much needed break from the usual grind of work. I felt a little bad for taking two days off, but it was two days that I absolutely needed for my sanity's sake. I was literally dreading work because I'd have to answer the phone and I knew who would be calling me about one stupid thing or another... not listen to me... and then call my PM. Great.
Two days of sheer bliss... of course, it wasn't exactly the most exciting thing ever, but I did learn a lot and it was WAY better than what I would have had to deal with. Yes, the phones DID ring while I was gone. The architect FINALLY (after 2.5 weeks) wrote up his minutes of the Wednesday Bitch-fest (that sucky meeting on the 11th)... and then pulled a "I need this by Monday, I hope you've been working on it" ninja-style out of his back pocket on Thursday -- giving the subs a whole 2 days to deal with it. Yeah, I'd already done the "sketches", but it'd have been nice for him to send us the minutes earlier so we could check to see if we missed anything. That's an architect for you, I guess. That's what Joe had to handle while I was gone.
*takes a deep breath* Ahhhhhh.... feels so good.
Today was nice. I worked 4 hours and loved every minute of it. I had plenty of work and it was actually fun work. I got paid. I also got an update on my 401k-- which is maturing nicely, though I need to log into my account and check things out.
After work, I came home and paid rent (that wasn't too exciting). Jordan and I went to Chili's with Trevor, Jordan's friend. We had a good time catching up on things. When we all came back to the apartment, I went to rest and read more "Little Women". Brad called, though, and took me up on my offer to make him some RJ45 cable (cat5 ethernet cable). When I came home, Jordan and I watched Thursday's episode of Supernatural on the CW's website. It was a really good one (they ALL are).
... then, we had to discipline the cats, who knocked over the flowers on my dresser and started eating them-- not the first time. Jordan had bought me the flowers because he ditched me Tuesday night to play DnD instead of cheering me up. I ran around the apartment 'till I caught the cats, who had scattered when I came in the room to catch them in the act. I've tried spraying them, but that doesn't work... so I chased them down, stuck their noses in the flowers on the ground, gave them a whack on their haunches, and sent them on their way. No, it wasn't "animal abuse"... it was just enough to let them know I was displeased with them and WHY. They haven't touched the flowers since... I'll spare you all on my discussion on kids and discipline.
Anyway, later tonight, we saw "The Invisible" in theaters-- Trevor met us there. It is an awesome movie. The story line was so unique. The plot kept moving. It was cool... even though there wasn't the "scary guy" from the previews in it. A movie well done.
After the movie, the CW's "Movie Night Traffic Light" was interviewing people who saw the show. I know what you're thinking, but NO, I didn't jump at the chance. I've been on TV before and I live vicariously through my friend Tasha. My husband and his friend did the interview, though... if they make the movie review cut, they'll be on the show on May 5th. It airs here in Arizona on Saturdays at 12:30pm. So if you're looking for them, look for the scruffy guy with the long beard wearing the red "Chupathingy" tee-shirt. That's my man. =)
