One of my favorite Star Wars posters is the 1978 Circus poster for A New Hope (style D). I have it on my wall, next to my bookcase. It's awesome. I love it. Now it has a twin:
Sith Circus, for Revenge of the Sith.
Shiny!
Sooooo tempted to preorder it.
As a poster, it's very nice, but it doesn't quite have the impact of the original. I think its primary flaw is Padme - she's completely static. Everything around her - Anakin, Grievous, the troopers - evokes movement, and she drags all of that down. I really don't know how that could have been avoided though, since she doesn't have much action in that film. I'm glad Lucasfilm nixed the blaster in her hand.
Obi-Wan's portion is pretty weak. I will not debate whether he was or was not in the movie (or saga as a whole), I just would have preferred the stronger look from the black and white sketch.
Aside from that, though, the poster is pretty sweet - a nice companion to the original. I really like how the artist, Matt Busch, stayed true to the style and layout of the original. (See his post about it
here.) I wouldn't display them side-by-side though. I like my ANH circus poster as a stand-alone piece. :)
Very cool. :) Very tempted.
And if I ordered it, I could also order
these while I was at it....
Oh, and maybe
these, too... *dies of cuteness*
Hmmm...how many days til Christmas? ;)
