wheel of time geekiness ftw. [book 10 spoilers?]

as requested by urbi_et_orbi, here's the linky to some screen shots i took as a Closed Beta Tester for Granado Espada.

annotations:

1. this is testing the 'Hugging' pose, as you can see in the menu on the left. participant characters would be my team leader, the female fighter 'Tuon NineMoons', and the male wizard 'Radhanon NineMoons'. looking on approvingly from the side is the male scout, 'Furyk NineMoons'.

2. a frontal shot of the team inside one of the towns.

a note on the names: in GE, when you first make your character family, you're first asked to supply a unique last name, which all members of your family will bear thereafter. since i'm still on my usual Wheel of Time kick, especially where character names for computer games are concerned, i gave my family the last name 'NineMoons'.

[that would be referring to Tuon's formal/imperial title, Daughter of the Nine Moons.]

and then of course the choice of that first name necessitated creating a character named 'Tuon' - who is, appropriately, a female fighter. [within the Wheel of Time universe, Tuon is well-trained with blades and hand-to-hand combat, and can even learn to channel should she choose to.] again, as is appropriate to the original character, she's the team leader.

for magical back-up and the occasional Area of Effect [AoE] nuking duties, i created a male wizard, named 'Radhanon'. this name was appropriated from that of the Seanchan Empress and Tuon's mom, Radhanan.

why is he male? i thought the male wiz looked cool, because even at level 1 he's already in that tailed coat. plus with the magical staff he uses, he kinda looks pretty. hehehe.

also, i know that he violates book canon for being a male magic-user, but hey, gimme a break. i don't have any canon-appropriate names/characters to take inspiration from.

last but not the least, for scouting and healing and all-around support, we have the male scout, 'Furyk'; his name comes from that of the leader of Tuon's bodyguard. [in the book, that would be Furyk Karede of the Deathwatch Guards.]

3-4. these are screen shots i took of the characters in fighting mode. yes, that is 'Tuon' wielding two swords, 'Radhanon' with his staff, and 'Furyk' without a weapon. in this game, if you want your scout to auto-heal you, you have to take away his weapons - and defend his healer's ass at all costs.

i got the account on Tuesday night [27 Feb]; after three days of playing, the team is up to level 18 and is on its way to killing the boss of the dungeon they're standing in. and by on the way i mean they're actually crawling the dungeon - the better to level them up. the relevant warp point would only be to the floor they're in right now - i skipped the previous floor because the loot there's not much good in terms of earning money.

now, off to brunch, i think, and then i'll go back to the dungeon crawl.

ETA: after finishing breakfast and lunch, i went back into the game and took a couple more pics for you.

5. trying out the pose 'pointing to front 1'. your family also assumes this pose at the end of an instanced mission, IF they win the mission.

6. trying out another pose, this one 'prostration'. this is actually not them falling flat on their faces - this is prostration as in kneeling with respect. i suppose that if the Queen of Vespanola actually appears in-game, people will be required to assume this pose if she's nearby.

if you guys see a black 7th pic, please ignore that - Multiply is being retarded.

[it's so retarded i can't upload the most amusing pic i took today: a group of families in another 'point to the front' pose, making them look like they were frozen in some weird dance number XD. bugger Multiply.]
