Reaching through frozen spaces,
I find and fall, I thirst…
Broken shadows; visions of memories,
Futures left behind, and present pasts:
Men and lives all melted as one,
Falling into the twisted touches of tomorrow.
I’ve spent bitter eternities
Seeping into your sorrows,
Striking a fortune on the winds
And waves of your becking claws:
The hollowed words and edged hopes
Listlessly ripping at my spiritual edifices.
Nothing left, amid these ruins -
Nothing left, I say;
You’ve taken all, and more:
Words and thoughts and sudden devotions;
I am left bereft, despoiled, alone,
And lonely; the work of your hands.
