After James touched the Dalek, the Daleks started getting a bit happier, now that they were getting some coffee, but then the Doctor switched all their coffee supplies to decaff (and that's why they are so miffed at the Doctor) and they had to switch to tea but they will do anything for a cup of coffee. Maybe that's why they invaded the Hub in TSE/JE. They didn't want to exterminate Ianto or Gwen, they just wanted a coffee.
