"Oh, she's blonde, she's going to end up Monster Munch," James exclaimed, with a smirk, as he and Martha curled up on the sofa together, watching a horror movie. Martha had joined the Doctor and his current companion, James, on one trip. Martha had found she liked the red haired companion, who happened to look like the Doctor, except with red hair. She met him while the Doctor was refuelling the TARDIS and his sarcastic personality won her over. He reminded her a lot of Donna with his habit of speaking his mind and he answered the Doctor back.

"Yeah. And then it's poor Sue Ellen or whatever her name is and she's mentioned all the way through the movie even though there are other murders."

"Oh no, don't kill Buffy!"

Martha sighed. "What is it with men and blondes?"

"Personally, I don't like blondes much. Not all of us are Pamela Anderson worshipping animals, you know," James said softly. "Buffy and, um, someone else are the exceptions to my no blonde rule."

"Not Rose, is it?"

"No. I'm sure that he would be insulted to be compared to her," James said, sounding very insulted.

"He?"

"Yeah. He's a friend."

"You're as bad as Jack."

"So you lot keep saying."

"Men!"

"Women!" James retorted, matching her tone of voice exactly. "I can't help it if the Doctor has mostly gorgeous companions, can I? I am a red blooded male after all."

"Am I included in that description?"

"Of course."

"The Doctor never noticed me."

"His loss," James said bluntly. "It might just be me but after all the things we've seen, horror movies don't seem too scary now."

"I know what you mean."

"Oh?"

"The Master. Had to walk the Earth while dodging deadly metal balls," Martha replied, not really wanting to remember that time. Just the memories sent shivers of fear down her spine. She was surprised at the guarded expression on James' face when she mentioned the Master.

"Oh yeah, I heard about that. The Doctor told me about it. He said how brave you were, facing the Master afterwards. I couldn't have done what you had."

"He did?" Martha looked shocked at that announcement. She sensed there was a lot more to his reaction that James wasn't saying and made a mental note to ask him later when she had gotten to know him better.

"Yeah. Made me a little nervous about meeting you. The way he painted you, I had no idea if I could match up to your standards. He may look human, but really, he's clueless."

"What about you?" Martha asked, wondering if the Master had turned up again when he was supposed to be dead and secretly hoped not.

"Nothing much," James answered vaguely. He didn't want to tell Martha about the Master reappearing and what he put both the Doctor and James through, so he decided to switch to a more harmless story. "The Doctor and I once went to this planet and we had to go through this quest to find our spirit animals. To my endless amusement, the Doctor's spirit animal was the owl, Ancient and Wise... Cue Harry Potter jokes about him delivering mail."

"What was yours?" Martha questioned, after a bout of laughter.

"The wolf, Cunning and Swift," James said, flashing her a wolfish smile. "Very fitting."

"Extremely." Martha agreed. "I wonder what mine would be."

"From what I can guess, you are fiercely protective of your family and friends and you will fight anyone who tries to harm them. Just like a lion and their pride," James pointed out. "Or maybe a wolf and its pack."

"Thank you," Martha said, surprised at his perceptiveness. "So lion or wolf?"

"Well, the wolf in me wants to say wolf but I dunno. We'll have to go back there for you to find out." James said with a grin.

"Okay, I'll ask the Doctor later."

"I'll turn this off. The acting is a little too cheesy for my tastes," James said, reaching for the remote. "Any objections?" he asked, using it to put the television in standby mode after Martha had shaken her head in reply. "Much better."

"Yeah," Martha said, gently poking James in the side. She smirked when he let out a loud yelp. "Did I hurt you?" she asked, looking worried.

"No, just took me by surprise," James answered, squirming when Martha poked him again. "Stop it!"

"Is the big bad wolf ticklish?"

"No! Please," he breathed in between uncontrollable laughter as Martha attacked his sides. "Martha stop tickling my sides," he begged, trying to wriggle out of reach of her tickling fingers.

"Okay, but seeing as you asked so nicely," Martha said, as she stopped her tickling and allowed him to sit up from where he had sprawled on the sofa. She silently scolded herself for forgetting that while James looked like the Doctor, he was a completely different character and that he might not react in the same way the Doctor would to her teasing him. Thankfully the red head seemed to be in a good mood. "Sorry, I..."

"Hey! Don't worry about it," James answered, waving it off. "If you promise not to tickle me again, I think we could be friends."

"I won't. Let's start again. Hi, I'm Doctor Martha Jones, former companion of the Doctor's and travelling with him again just because he asked me nicely," Martha said, sticking her hand out for him to shake.

"Hi, I'm James Bardulf, current companion of the Doctor's and I'm travelling with him because I enjoy the adventure," James answered, clutching her hand with his own. He felt slightly guilty for giving her the surname he had adopted since he was nineteen years old instead of his birth one but he decided that his new one suited him better.

The scar on James' left forearm caught her attention. "What happened here?" she asked, running her finger down the scar. She was surprised by his reaction. He sucked in a breath and a shiver ran through his body. His eyes had fluttered shut, and he let out a low growl. "Did I hurt you?" she asked, quickly removing her finger.

"N-no," James answered, opening his eyes and turning to look at her. The intensity of his look made her blush and look down. "Quite the opposite in fact," he admitted, a faint blush across his cheeks.

"What...? Oh," Martha exclaimed as she noticed there was a noticeable bulge in his trousers. "Does that happen often?" she asked, curious.

"I don't know. No one's ever played with my scar before," James answered, his cheeks reddening even more.

"No? not even the Doctor?"

"No."

"Hm, first time for everything," Martha mused as she ran her finger down the scar again. The answering growl was even louder this time, sending a flash of pleasure to her crotch.

"If you carry on doing that, I won't last much longer," James said, giving her a look that was filled with desire.

"Shall I stop?" she asked, letting go of James' wrist, getting a sigh of disappointment from the older red head. "I don't want you to have an embarrassing accident in your underwear."

"No!" James said forcefully as he discretely adjusted his trousers to make himself a little more comfortable. "I mean, no, you didn't have to if you don't want to."

Martha was very curious about the Doctor's newest companion and wondered if she'd get to find out what makes him tick. "Anywhere else I should know about?" she asked mischievously. "I mean, I don't want to innocently touch you in public and find that I had hit one of your erogenous zones, do I? Could get us into a lot of trouble."

James looked embarrassed, mostly because of his body's reaction to that innocent touch. "Uh, well, what about you?" he asked finally. "This conversation goes both ways, you know."

"That's for me to know and you to find out," Martha retorted cheekily, raising her arm to wrap around his shoulders.

James raised an eyebrow. "Really?" he asked with a smirk. "And in private?"

"Oh, it won't be so innocent."
