Wow, it just started right off the bat, didn't it?
Yay for more Cuddy! Especially when it's an actually meaningful scene that has a part in the plot. House wants to autopsy the body himself, but Cuddy did the responsible thing and called the CDC. Of course, since House only cares about his patients, he doesn't care for it.
It's so House to go behind Cuddy's orders and try to get a sample from the dead cop anyway, but, geez, I totally wasn't expecting that to be the time Foreman's blindness presented.
Eh, I find the flashback-y thing unnecessary and distracting. At least they didn't do a full-on recap. That would've been unbearable. Found the exchange between Cameron and House about her lack of humor funny, just like Chase. Of course, Chase has always found House's comments funny - you can always see him smiling or grinning in the background - but today's the first time everyone was alarmed about it. It must be freaky to have a disease that first presents with happiness.
Eep! Poor rat, I hope that's not Steve... Ack! It is Steve McQueen! Oh, House, how could you expose Steve to the disease? Weren't you the one who was against killing him before? Of course, Foreman's life is on the line. But even Wilson is appalled that Steve was used as the experimental subject instead of a random lab rat.
LOL! The clinic patient girl! The "whoo whoo" noises! "You're a goof!" "Takes one to know one, loser! ...Wait, that means I'm a loser." And, OMG, the little girl is masturbating? How old is she? Does it really mantter, when she finds House funny and gets along with him?
Yay, another use of Cuddy! It's interesting how differently House is acting when he knows the patient - I guess this is why he goes out of his way not to get to know his patients normally. House has the kind of genius mind that jumps from one conclusion to the other, baffling others who aren't geniuses, and I'm sure that kind of mind works best when he's completely objective and not bothered. But Foreman is one of his staff, and Joe died without House figuring out what the disease was, and he's trying to distance himself emotionally by distancing himself physically, but not mentally. And interesting that Cuddy noticed and told him to stop seeing clinic patients - she definitely has her priorities in order.
I loved House trying to guilt Cuddy into letting him to the autopsy instead of waiting for the CDC by using Foreman's dad. Also loved Cuddy politely and logically smacking House down. It was a completely appropriate response from her, both as an administrator of a hospital and as House's boss. The situation is difficult for her, too, especially since she's well aware that her decision may be killing Foreman.
Gah. The exchange between Foreman and his father. Gah. Apparently his mother has Alzheimer's or something. Gah. Omar Eppes...totally bringing it.
"Foreman's black." "What? Aw, you've been sitting on this information." I couldn't help it. I laughed.
Hmm...funny how Cuddy thinks of Foreman as a friend. How did that happen? Foreman doesn't even consider Cameron a friend, when it comes down to it. And Omar Eppes once again brings it. Very powerful scene. I love this show and its ability to present both sides to the audience and not take sides. Lesser shows don't even try.
House infecting Foreman with Legionnaire's disease to slow down the unknown disease? Classic House. I'm fascinated with these two episodes, because all the characters are so in character, but, at the same time, presenting new facets of their personalities. Especially House. It happens in small doses, so that it's an introduction to yet another part of him, and not coming off as something that's presented for no reason or out of the blue. I'll reiterate: I love this show.
"Sure, I make it look oh so sexy" - he really does. I'm sure this is a completely inappropriate reaction for such a powerful scene, but House really does make his disability sexy.
That scene, though, brings up another question. Would you rather be disabled or dead? Especially the kind of disability that Foreman is willing to live with - one caused by brain damage that will leave him almost brain dead. Personally, I would rather be disabled than dead if it's something like paralysis or whatnot, but I think I'd rather be dead than completely incapable of thinking or making decisions on my own. It's the thinking and making decisions part that's important to me. Physical dependence, I can live with. But I'm not sure about being brain damaged to that degree.
God, the scene between Foreman and Cameron... It was surprising, and moving, and just...amazing. Fucking amazing, this entire episode. Foreman wanting Cameron to be his medical proxy because of something he read in her article, Cameron refusing to accept his apology because she wants him to get better and not give up...amazing. God. I love episodes like this where none of the characters annoy me at all, not even Cameron.
Holy moly, not only am I not annoyed with Cameron, I totally like her in her scene with Cuddy, House, and Foreman's dad. Especially the part where she just told off Cuddy. I understand Cuddy's reasons for making the decision she did, but I really like this reaction of everyone being angry at Cuddy for doing it. Her decision was realistic, but so are their reactions.
Damn. I definitely did not see this coming. I thought House would find the answer before the biopsy, but Cameron went ahead and did it...and it turned out that there was so reason for it! Not that I blame her, because she had no idea if House would find anything, but...the twist! It surprises! In a good way! I love this show!
OMG! There's actually brain damage! Not as bad as they feared, but Foreman can't move his toes! He raised his left arm when House asked him to raise his right arm! Holy fuck!
I'll say it yet again: I. Fucking. Love. This. Show.
