Okay, the truth is, I'm notoriously bad at updating my chapter fics. This is because my Muse is a frequent multitasker. She tosses a new idea or two at me every day. The problem, then, comes from the fact that I am not very good at multi-tasking when it comes to writing fics. I tend to obsess over one for a few months, then go on to another obsession for the next few months, and so on, until I get back to the first obsession in a year or two. It's bad, but that's me and my Muse.
Recently, I've been typing up ideas and saving them as .txt files on my computer, adding scenes to the files as I come up with them but otherwise doing nothing else. No organizing, no editing, no refining - just purging my brain.
But now my brain is full of these large ideas instead of a hundred little ones, and it's very difficult to concentrate again. Sigh. So I'm purging by detailing my plans for all these fics here, online, where people besides me can see them:
Title: Adjustment Period
Summary: AU. What if the Council had thought better about giving an entirely inexperienced Knight Kenobi the responsibility of teaching a nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker?
Details: Honestly, it wasn't the brightest idea the Council had to give the responsibility of raising and teaching a completely-ignorant-of-the-Jedi-ways Anakin Skywalker to a still-grieving, completely-out-of-his-depth Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan obviously overcompensated, which is why he was so uptight in AotC compared to how he was in TPM. Yeah, he was more relaxed by the time RotS came around, but the overcompensation probably had an adverse affect on Anakin, as well as their relationship. This is me wondering what would've happened if the Council had let Anakin mingle with the other initiates for three years, sending Obi-Wan off to be a carefree Knight for those same three years. Both of them would probably have far less issues, for one thing. Eventually will spawn off rewrites of Attack of the Clones as well as Revenge of the Sith - though I haven't decided whether or not Anakin will turn. Never mind the whole Anakin/Obi-Wan, Anakin/Padme issues...
Title: Shades of Gray
Summary: AU. Not long after the days of Merlin, a higher form of magic was discovered - elemental magic. The discovery changed the course of history, resulting in a world where Tom Riddle is Emperor, with Albus Dumbledore and Bellatrix Lestrange as his trusted advisers, and Harry Potter as the Emperor's Hand. But the wand wielders are beginning to get restless at the superiority complex of the elementals, and an assassination marks the beginnings of a revolution that will change the world as they know it.
Details: Like the title says. This fic isn't about good or bad, black or white, this fic is about the boundaries, and how blurred it really is.
Title: Scheol
Summary: AU. Back when the magical population was still new, the vampires realized and eliminated their threat by turning them, knowing that the power of the vampire blood would burn the magic out. The practice is still continued today, and the population of witches and wizards are far outnumbered by the vampires and their servants and allies. But the race of humans don't give up easily, and in the dark of the night, plan one last attack to launch the beginnings of a civil war. The five Clans, divided through petty squabbles, and the Council of Eleven, believe the humans to be no threat. Only the legendary Alpha can take authority away from the incompetent Council and reunite the Clans in time, but first he must be found...
Details: As with all of my fics, it's mostly about character development and exploration. Who is in the right? Humans? Vampires? And all that jazz.
Title: The High King
Summary: [post-OotP] The Second War has begun, with Voldemort even more powerful than before. But in the hour of Britain's greatest need, the High King returns...and Harry Potter discovers the power the Dark Lord knows not.
Details: Heh. This is just for fun, really. Harry as Arthur, Ron as Lancelot, Neville as Galahad, and a slew of other reincarnated people from that great time. Of course, with the passing of time, the story of Arthur became so warped that it became fantasy, only legends, and no story is quite the same as what really happened...
Title: Harry Potter and the First War
Summary: In 2001, three years after the end of the Second War, Harry Potter disappears. In 1977, Hogwarts welcomes a new DADA professor, one who will change lives, make adults out of children, and prepare them for war...
Details: I'm a real stickler for time travel. There are some things that are possible, and some things that aren't - especially if you don't want your present to be altered by something you did in the past. That said, all of the Harry-goes-back-to-teach-his-parents fics seem to ignore the rules of time travel all together, having Harry reveal who he is, having something unexpected happen, etc. So I thought I could write a fic where Harry goes back, manages to keep his secret (because he's not a fucking idiot), and actually is there only to teach DADA and not interfere, no matter how hard it may be.
Title: Sacrifice
Summary: In a world where the line between good and evil blurred just a little more each day, Chris found precious freedom with a girl named Bianca. Seven years of deception, love, and, above all, sacrifice.
Details: Basically, my theory on what happened after Wyatt declared himself lord and master of the world. In the show, the writers made it seem like Chris just hung around the edges while Wyatt kept one eye on him to make sure he wasn't up to anything, but Chris is a very shrewd, manipulative guy. I doubt he would've hung around until Bianca stumbled upon him with the time travel plan, and I doubt that someone like Bianca would have agreed to marry someone who sat on the sidelines until prompted by someone else. This fic would basically be my exploration of the Halliwell brothers and their relationship in this bleak future, along with an in-depth look into how a woman like Bianca fell in love with a man five to six years her junior.
Title: Second Chances
Summary: Rewrite of the last half of Season 6, from Chris-Crossed on, where a little bit of logic was used concerning the whole time travel issue. [Chris x Bianca]
Details: Seriously, it really bothered me how the writers botched up the whole time travel thing. First of all, how much time had passed between when Chris left and when Bianca came back? Although it was a few months for Chris, theoretically, it could have been anywhere from one hour to one year for Bianca and Wyatt in the future. Time is relative, it's not fixed - therefore, when Bianca came back into the past, she could've left for the future a year from when she arrived and still gone back to the same moment she left.
Title: Rekmas
Summary: AU post-Season 3. No matter how the Titans blaze, even the brightest of lights are eventually extinguished. All good things come to an end...but they never thought it would happen so soon.
Details: I really hated how the Trigon arc was handled. I mean, this is Trigon, and he was suddenly defeated in one or two blasts from Raven? Unbelievable, especially since he had the power to turn everyone in the world to stone. So, I decided to write my own way of handling Trigon, which required Raven to go off on her own. This fic is about that, and about how one change can lead to a domino effect, where friendship sometimes isn't forever.
Title: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Summary: AU post-Season 3. Ten years after they went their separate ways, the former Titans are reunited for one last battle together. Fighting as a team again, however, doesn't look to be as easy as expected, not after so many years of being apart, when everyone has changed so much. Slowly, however, they learn that the past cannot be recreated, and learn to accept each other for who they've become, not who they were. Pairings will vary through [Nightwing x Starfire], [The Flash x Raven], [Cyborg x Sarah Simms], with mentions of [Robin x Starfire], [Beast Boy x Terra], and one-sided [Raven x Jericho]. Eventually will be [Nightwing x Raven], [Cyborg x Bumblebee], [Beast Boy x Terra II], and [Starfire x Ph'yzzon].
Details: Not much to say in addition to the summary, really, except this fic is mostly about character exploration and, of course, a look into team dynamics. There is a healthy dose of action in there, but most of it has to do with people.
Title: Imitation
Summary: A Robin-centric fic. A new villain enters the picture: Bob, who has a strange philosophy for a villain. If you can't beat them, join them, and if you can't join them...study one of them obsessively, rebuild your face to look like his, kidnap him, and take his place on the team. Of course, Bob's smart enough to know that he needs help with the little details, so he keeps Robin around to whisper in his ear, on the threat that Bob will destroy the Titans from the inside out wearing Robin's face if the Boy Wonder doesn't help. As Bob's captive and unwilling aid, Robin learns that imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery - especially when your friends can't tell the difference and seem to like the other guy better.
Details: Yeah, there already was a villain named Bob, but he was a weird Tofu guy. This Bob is entirely human, and obsessed with Robin to the point where he wants to be Robin. This fic is mostly about Robin getting a huge wake up call in regards to the team. Despite everything they've been through together, there's still a lot of secrets between them, especially on Robin's part, and this is a fic that explores the revelation that love without knowing the person isn't really love at all - at least, not love in its entirety.
Title: War
Summary: AU. In a world where hatred and magic run rampant, five strangers are brought together for one purpose: to overthrow the Demon Lord Trigon, the Supreme Ruler of the world. Of course, nothing is ever as easy as it sounds, especially when they can't get along, everyone has a secret past, and no one trusts anyone else.
Details: Again, this is a result of my unhappiness with the Trigon arc. In this fic, the Titans never got together as a team - and thus, Trigon came to power without anyone knowing of his coming. Except people didn't turn into stone, because that was really stupid; what's the point of ruling a world of nothing? Trigon then turned his attentions towards the rest of the galaxy, and, soon, Earth was not the only planet under the Demon Lord's rule. There are many different pockets of resistance, of course. The Human Resistance, which Nightwing (formerly Robin) is a part of. The Meta Resistance, which Beast Boy and Cyborg are a part of. The Outerworld Resistance, which Starfire is a part of. And the Underworld Resistance, which, of course, Raven is a part of. They've never met each other before, but they're suddenly thrown together as champions of their own factions, and have to learn to work together. Long and hard journey.
Title: X-Men: Revolution
Summary: AU. A darker version of the show. Sometimes, it's not about heroes and villains, it's about people. Because sometimes, when you look into the eyes of your enemy, you see yourself. And life is complicated.
Details: Although I do like Evolution, I find myself frustrated, a lot of times, when a potentially great storyline is chopped brutally down to a comically ridiculous arc. I understand that it's aired for children to see, which is why I don't complain - I only come up with my version of how things could've gone if the Kids WB were prone to realistic human reactions in their cartoons. A lot of this fic is centered on Rogue and her struggle between the Brotherhood and the X-Men, Kurt and his struggle with Mystique being his mother, Xavier and Erik and their struggle with being enemies and friends, and Scott's struggle, if you can believe, with realizing that Magneto does have a valid point, even if the methods leave a lot to be desired. Really, it's about characterization, once again, and the natural processes of humans evolving not on a genetic level, but on a psychological level.
Title: Evolution of a Rogue
Summary: Rogue's relatively long and often arduous journey towards mastering her powers, learning to accept herself, and finding peace. Rogue-centered, taking place on Muir Island, focused on character development. Mentions of [Scott x Jean], hints of [Kitty x Piotr] and [Rogue x Remy], with one-sided [Rogue x Various].
Details: I'm really excited about how X-Men Evolution is handling Rogue's powers. In the comics, Rogue seems to actually suck the powers and memories out from the other person, leaving that person in a coma. Then, when the powers and memories fade from Rogue, the other person wakes up, regaining their powers and memories. The Rogue in Evolution, however, seems to copy the powers and memories, leaving the other person completely unaffected except for a slight case of exhaustion - which can totally be controlled, IMO. And this fic would go into detail about how Rogue would go about gaining that control (since most fics seem to have her miraculously gaining control without any thought to how or why), and how long it would take her to get comfortable with touching people and being touched. It would all take place on Muir Island, away from the X-Men, because, honestly, she does need a new scene, and new, more mature friends. Plus someone who will work with her, not just on controlling the psyches in her mind, but on controlling her powers. Geez, Professor X, what happened to your promise to help her? Conveniently forgotten now that she's on your side, huh?
Title: The Gordian Knot
Summary: Sequel to Evolution of a Rogue. Deep in space, a cosmic force finds itself drawn to Earth, even as the Hellfire Club begins to stir in the shadows. And so, six years after Apocalypse, the deceptive peace shatters, and the X-Men are called together from all over the world to save humanity once again... Mentions of established [Scott x Jean] and [Kitty x Piotr], with eventual [Rogue x Remy].
Details: The Hellfire Club and Phoenix Force arc, done in Evolution verse, my way. It's all very complicated, hence the title. The Gordian Knot represents the most difficult, and often insolvable, problems in the world. See the
History of the Gordian Knot.
Title: The Fine Art of Friendship
Summary: It doesn't take romance to breach social barriers. Just respect, understanding, and genuine effort. Two girls meet by chance, but become friends through choice. Friendship fic.
Details: I got so tired of reading those Soc-girl-falls-for-Greaser-guy fics that this was what happened. Really, like the summary says, it doesn't take a guy and a girl falling in love to cross the social barrier. Sometimes, people can just become friends because they find out they like each other as people, despite social standing. In this fic, Angela Shepherd, a tough, hard, Greaser girl, meets a snobby, rich Soc girl, and they actually end up becoming friends - slowly, awkwardly, and with a hell of a lot of effort.
