You know what's really bad news when you come home from work?
Finding out a drunk driver ran into a power pole on your block, thereby knocking the thing over and taking out power to the entire block. Not that I knew the details when I got home last night. I just knew that a pole was knocked over, the road was blocked, and I had no power - not only that, I only had one flashlight and one candle.
It's a sad truth in today's world that being without power - being without lights - means you can't do anything. Obviously, I couldn't use my computer or watch tv or anything. But I also couldn't read a book, because I had very little light, and I couldn't play with my laptop or iPod or phone too much because I couldn't re-charge their batteries.
You know what's worse?
When you look out the window and realize the people across the street must be on a different power grid thingie because they still have power. They have lights. They can read a book, they can watch tv - they have INTERNET ACCESS.
The world is cruel.
Well, at least when I got home tonight, even though the road was still blocked, they managed to restore power.
*hugs the computer*
