so this weekend overall was pretty successful, just very busy
friday i went to the symphony to hear josh bell play brahms. he was a very accomplished violinist, but i'm not sure i think he's so cute as ppl say. in any case, there was also some excellent chocolate cake and we got to talk to the conductor who was quite a character. i really enjoy the symphony and classical music in general. i always get a good story out of it or just a really nice chance to relax. after i got i then read "ella enchanted" which was a lot of fun, i haven't read it in awhile and it's so cute.
saturday was the residence on fifth christmas bingo, which went off very well and i thus was pleased since i pretty much did everything with that. it's really close and an easy walk, which is good for future possibilities. the volunteer coordinator liz and the residents were really nice. we just got there like an hour too early so the five us played like four games of bingo ourselves, then did "sittercize" with the residents (which was a hoot and a half) and then we played bingo. i miss erma :( i hope she's okay
after that i went to jen's nutcracker performance which was cool and then messed up in the computer lab for a bit. i am also now officially a member of the ulaanbaatar post.
today we had a group mtg with steve saunders, the north american mongolian business council (NAMBC and not the national association of milk bottle collectors), which was cool. i talked with him individually on friday, but it was neat to get to meet everyone and talk about their projects and mongolia in general. i also met my future language instructor and a possible summer buddy. apparently we do a few mongolian social events spring term as well and get to meet the pittsburgh mongolian community which should be awesome. and we go to DC sometime for meetings, which should be really cool. with everything more i learn i just get so excited. this is going to be awesome. i also found some books on the mongolian language at the campus library so i'll have to check those out over christmas.
and see friends too. that'll be nice.
my saturday exam is now possible to take wednesday, so i can come home friday night right after physics! then that saturday will be our family christmas eve and the next day christmas, it will be awesome.
physics is still being a black spot, but it's almost over and everything else is shaping up very nicely :)
