Dumpster-Diving Dilettante

There's nothing quite like waking up one fine morning to realize that your roommate threw out your shoes amongst the household trash... Yeah...I couldn't believe it either.

Turns out that Jeremy and I have the exact same pair of shoes, and Meghan mistook one of my shoes as the matching shoe. So thusly, I was stuck with one torn-to-shreds left shoe, and a perfectly fine right shoe. I wasn't aware of the mistake with the shoes at the time, so I thought that maybe my cat had destroyed my left shoe, but I found it strange that the laces of the left shoe were completely removed, and there was a hole in the side. I couldn't imagine that Sanani or any of the others could tear a hole in leather like that.

I told Meghan about the situation and she said that it was strange that the shoe with the hole in it looked remarkably like one of Jeremy's shoes that she threw out because it was literally on it's last limbs. We soon discovered that somehow, although we're still not sure entirely, she mistook one of my shoes for Jeremy's and threw it in the trash, where it was carried out by Jeremy almost immediately afterwards and taken to the dumpster.

So, for breakfast, I went out in the freezing cold and jumped into my apartment complex's dumpster (thank God dumpster day was like the day before, so my shoe was still there and there wasn't much trash) to go searching for it. We have those specific type of bags that have the red drawstrings, so it wasn't too hard to find. Not to mention, they were a little bit translucent, so I could see things in the trash that I knew made it ours. The bag, however was completely tied shut, so I just drove my nail through the plastic and tore it open. God my shoe out and ran back into the house chanting "gross, gross, gross..." Because Meghan was the one who threw it out, I made her clean it thoroughly, and then I sprayed it with an anti-smell liquid and threw it out on the porch to air-dry.

So far, this day's just been full of firsts... and it's not even noon!
