Things were unfolding fast, and Hiro had only seconds at his disposal to try and save his 'friends'. Not that he was Amber and Dean's best friend. At this point, he hardly knew either. He just knew he was stuck in the same reality with both of them and at least one of them knew what was going on

She felt Dean grab her as they both fell back. As Dean apologized, she only gave him a smile in thanks. Then she rolled away a little as he fired from the Colt. The laser projecting Contractor staggered a bit, but did not fall. He maintained his power and kept firing, his face in the slightest of pain grimaces.
Amber was still low to the ground when the lasers flew over her and toward Hiro. Why in the world were they firing at him? Didn't they want him alive?!
Now however wasn't the time to think about their lack of thinking. She had to act. In recalling the extensive, torturous training she went through in South America, years before it along with Heaven's Gate disappeared from this world, this version of Earth, she remembered her developed martial arts skills. She got to her feet and ran at a partial crouch toward the injured Syndicate agent the same time Hiro helped Dean evade a laser that was flying straight for him. She struck low with a fist that was blocked, but he wasn't fast enough to stop her from leg sweep him. This was
