Life, et cetera

Ugh. The sinus infection that refuses to fuck off and die has invited a toothache to take up residency within my skullmeats. I should be outside practicing my stilt walking for a show on Saturday, or working on a new screen in the studio, but my nose threatens mutiny whenever I try to get up. (Actually, since writing that, I felt guilty about doing neither of those things, so I prepped a screen and flailed around my stilts a bit before giving up in disgust). Being all sickified, I find myself working my way through a handful of small, odd things I've been meaning to get to (filling out my graduation application, bleaching my hair, putting the last of my metalwork up on the art blag, working on my evals, updating the Internet on the State of Me).

Regarding that last one...

As can be surmised from the previous, I am gradumating in June. There was a form, and in addition to the usual questions ("Do you wish to graduate? Y/N. Are you willing to pay us for the privilege? Y/Y.") Evergreen was also interested in knowing if I am currently employed (err...) and if I engage in community activities (ha!). There was no line provided to write in your major, which was disappointing, since I was hoping to combine it with my handmade degree from Antioch for a double major in "being fuckin' awesome".

I should probably be more apprehensive about finishing college, considering that school has been the Major Focus of Life for the past eighteen years or so of mine, but at this point I feel like I do Real Life more or less full-time, and school is something that's been getting in the way of that. That said, I'm really looking forward to my last term, which I'm spending in a printmaking and digital media intensive (photolithography!), and a class called Artist as Business ("how to walk the thin line between selling out and working retail", as the professor put it). It's 20 credits of ass-kicking, but I'll have four day weekends and the knowledge that I squeezed every single drop of sweet education-juice out of my last three months of schooling.

Other than that, life continues. I spend a lot of time at the circus barn bruising myself up on the silks and trapeze and feeling inadequate about my straddle climbs. I get ink-splattered and messy in my garage screenprinting stuff for people. I wind up having a beer most nights with the fantastic, intelligent, clever humans I'm lucky enough to call friends. I keep finding myself romantically entangled with terribly brilliant and exciting people. I try to keep up with myself.

Oh, and I'm letting my hair grow itself out for the first time in three years.

(It's actually gotten a little longer and messier since I took this. Also, my gazelle has improved a bit.)

And that's the news on this end. More updates to come as events and life warrant!
