I'm Back

Wow, I was sick. I had the flu plus something else, and was horribly sick. I was barely able to go home for Christmas, and nothing but the unhappy thought of spending Christmas alone could have motivated me to move. (I tried to see if the family would come out here, but no, they wouldn't).

As I was trying to get dressed that day, I coughed hard and felt an extremely painful 'pop' in my ear. I didn't realize what had happened until I found blood coming from my ear. But, determined, I pressed on. I got in the car and promptly slid off the road and into a ditch, right next to a set of deep ruts where someone else had pasted in earlier. The ditch had very deep mud, despite all the snow, which was good because it stopped me from hitting the trees. *wry smile* I couldn't back out, but I could go forward. I made it to the farm, where my sibling complained that she had had to wait on me to open presents. No "hi!" or "gee, you've been deathly ill, how are you?"

Literally, I was unable to get up for most of a day. I couldn't raise my arm enough to pet my concerned cats even. This flu is serious stuff. Belle snuggled up next to me and didn't leave my side, which was much appreciated since I was freezing cold. Dylan, worried when I couldn't pet him, found a solution. He rolled his back onto my hand, getting up and rolling over several times. It was so absurd and adorable.

I think I was delirious for several hours. I have flashes of memory, of both cats sitting next to me and watching my face. When I finally snapped out of it, Dylan was licking my eyelids. *pets kitten spralled across the back of her chair*

I had to leave work the day I was hit with this--and they were so nasty to me at work and the next day too. Yes, I had to go work the next day, on Christmas Eve, or lose my job. One of my co-workers called me later and said I 'looked like I was about to die'. I certainly felt like it! Many customers expressed concern over me. I was WAY better than I was the previous day. I found out later that they let several people go home early because there was nothing for us to do!!!!! But not me, because I had asked to go home the previous day, which I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE IN FOUR YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT. No, I wasn't given my break until was past the time, and I had to stay almost a half hour late because they 'forgot' to get me. When I came in, I couldn't find out where I was supposed to be, and the people in charge told me I had to go speak with the boss. This is what they do to people that have been fired, let them come in and then send them to the boss just like that. Bastards! I should have coughed on him more.
It has been over two weeks since I got sick and I still have a horrible cough and frequent dizzy spells. I think I got sick because I was so run-down.

But, now, I am much better. After two days of wonderful spring-like weather (I had the windows open!) winter is coming back with a vengence. We are supposed to get record cold and 6 to 12 inches of snow tonight! I like snow!

I like that my local news people are always excited about snow. The local news people at the parents' are always like "Gawwww--it's going to snow, again." If you don't like snow move to Florida!
