Gosh, I've been so run down and sick lately. Also have an iron deficiency which helps me feel absolutely exhausted constantly. I fell asleep right after work again today, and so now I'm trying to wash stuff before I have to go back.

The Kenshin live action movie is looking better and better--they better not screw it up! Kenshin's actor Sato Takeru is cute, and I kept seeing comments about how good he was in Kamen Rider Den-O, where he plays a character that gets possessed by different monsters all the time, so he plays eight different characters. And I kept seeing comments on how good that show was, so I looked for episodes, figuring it would be cheesy Power Rangersish action and OMG I TOTALLY LOVE THIS!

The effects are very cheesy. The monsters talk and their mouths don't move. But the characters are awesome! And the story was so intriguing once it got going (about ep 5), and cute guys galore, and I really got into the whole mystery of what in the world was going on. It was like Power rangers superhero stuff, combined with Doctor Who. But I loved it! This show made me laugh hysterically, seriously, are the writers on drugs, but then it could get so sad..... Toei, the company behind Kamen Rider, are master trolls, as someone said. They love to completely wreck you emotionally. I was gutshot when I ran out of episodes. ;_;

So then I had seen clips for another Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) series (they do one series a year now, so they do a whole complete storyline in a year). I guess they've had various series on in Japan since like 1973. Kamen Rider W, or Double, I saw some clip and started watching just to answer the question, "Why did that guy faint?" I guess what I saw was some cheesy humor special, and so I started watching the show to see that ep to satiate my curiosity. There was no way I'd love it as much as Den-O, no way, I told myself, and Double did start off slow with very, very intriguing characters and one annoying girl, but then it sucked me in totally. They got away from the hero gadgets stuff and the plot took over, and omigosh.

Think film noir/Philip Marlowe/1930's detective novel stuff, plus Batman, plus Terminator. So you have two young guys running a detective agency, being a superhero on the side, and this annoying chick who shows up and insists on tagging along. She gets less annoying as they go along, and she does actually make things better, like dragging Philip out of his autistic world and pointing out to the men when they're being MEN.

I think I might actually like Double better now. I'll have to do a post on what it's about, and the characters, cause they deserve more time than I have to write now. The ending made me cry my eyes out. Anyway, it's a crime that they only ran the show for one season, cause I could watch years of this stuff. There's a bunch of extras and stuff, and I still have one more movie to get through.

I tried to watch Kamen Rider Kiva, which is "vampires and violins", but so far I'm not into it, but I do love the violin stuff. There's a character who used to be a famous violinist but refuses to play on stage anymore, but he will play randomly when the music swells in him, like for the flowers in the botanical gardens. And I loved Wataru and the vampire's violin duel. But it's no "W".

This pic I found sums up the end of Double for me.

I held it in till Shotarou started crying too.... ;_;
