Author's Notes -

So this is a bit of a...whim, I suppose. Fell in love with Sanguini and had to do a fic with him. This is going to be a bit of a Voldemort/Harry/Sanguini triangle. Or threesome. Or something. So far, I haven't got a title.

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, and I'm not making money.

Chapter One
-

He wandered along the abandoned streets of the little muggle town of Surrey, delicately sniffing the breeze for any signs of prey. He tilted his head quickly to the left as his sensitive ears picked up the faintest of sounds; Somewhere there was the slight muffled cry of a youth, but not too far from his present location. He smoothly and quickly slunk in that direction, his glowing eyes glinting mischeviously in the darkened alleyways as he breezed by.

He edged along the alleyway wall until he was a few metres away, assessing the situation. A boy, looking to be in his early teens perhaps, lay curled on one side, whimpering and breathing with some difficulty. Helpless... not a threat. He then sidled over until he was just above the boy, and stared down at him, casting his shadow over the prone figure which went very still.

Slowly, the boy turned around and the child's bright green eyes widened in horror as he smiled, and indeed, with good reason...

For he was the vampire called Sanguini.

Harry awoke with a start and threw his bedcovers to the side, swiping at the sweat that had collected along his brow. His forehead creased as he thought on the dream he just had, wondering why he dreamed of that after so long. That had happened over five years ago, and he'd not seen hide nor hair of the elusive and eccentric(to say the least) vampire since then. He shook himself to clear his head and opened the bedcurtains and took a gaze over his dorm; The rest of the boys were all asleep.

It was the beginning of his Seventh year and so far, nothing interesting was happening. He walked over to the window and pulled aside the drapes, letting the starlight and moonlight pool in. It was a blue moon(1) right now, and Harry felt excitement build up. There was just something mystical and enchanting about a blue moon night that drew Harry in. It just felt so exotic, eerie, and alluring to him.

Harry quickly threw on his invisibility cloak, grabbed the Marauder's Map and made his way out of the dorms. The fat lady was sleeping in her frame, and Harry crept cautiously down the stairs and headed for the entrance. He met no one along the way; Filch was prowling up near the astronomy tower, probably trying to catch any couples having a tryst there. He quickly and nimbly sprited for the doors and slipped out onto the grounds.

The moon was high in the sky and the night was a near-cloudless one, so the grounds were illuminated quite nicely. Harry made his way over to the lake, as the moonlight sparkling across the surface of the water drew Harry in. It was like the surface of the lake was made of liquid diamonds, and Harry stared at the reflection of the moon on the water. It was so quiet and peaceful out here at night like this; Harry wished sometimes that it was always night.

Harry jumped then as he swore he could hear a voice whisper in his ear, "As do I, little one. My, my... interesting how similar of a heart we seem to share..."

He squeaked and whirled around, seeing nothing in any direction. He pulled out his wand and called out, shakily, "Who's there?" But there was no response; Just the delicate rustle of a light wind in the trees, the occasional sound of an animal wandering, and the soft splashes of the lake water as it rolled about. Harry took a deep breath in and willed his nerves to calm, and put his wand away. There was no one here, he told himself, He'd only imagined it.

He walked closer to the lake then, and looked about nervously as he scanned the area for a tree to lean against. He didn't want to leave his back exposed... Yes, he was paranoid but with good reason. It had kept him alive this far. He slid down the tree trunk and splayed his legs out in front of himself, sitting against the rough bark amongst the roots. He stared out at the lake for some time before he felt a tentative prod against his mind, stemming from the link between himself and the Dark Lord.

Harry mentally raised an eyebrow and opened the connection a bit to see what Voldemort wanted, and said in a tone as though he were answering the phone, "Yes?"

"I was just curious to see what you, the-boy-who-does-no-wrong, is doing up so late," Came the sardonic reply filtering through the link, "I should think it is past your...bed time." The voice chuckled.

Harry very nearly snorted derisively and mused that Voldemort must be really tired to be conversing with him like this... again. They'd been having random conversations as of late, and surprisingly hadn't spent the entire time screaming at one another.

"Well, that's nice", Harry replied, "And now how about the truth?"

Harry could almost feel Voldemort's grin as he replied, "Ah, I see you know me too well, Potter. It seems I might have to exercize more caution in the future during our little...talks."

Harry could tell he didn't really mean that. For some reason, he got the distinct impression that Voldemort didn't consider him as much of a threat any more.

"I noticed someone enter your mind tonight, Harry and I felt I should have a look around. I was, of course, right in my assumptions. Someone has been here, though I can't make out who, as they only stayed in your mind long enough to whisper that one sentence. What you heard was definately real, and I suggest you be more careful from now on." Voldemort voice intoned.

Harry felt a distinct wave of possessiveness and displeasure echo across the link and he was taken aback for a moment; And he realized his surprise must have leaked back to Voldemort because he immediately felt something akin to slight nervousness and a vaguely unsettled feeling and he then realized Voldemort had not meant for him to feel that. He also realized Voldemort had been upset about someone else being in his mind.

Voldemort's voice sounded in his mind once again, and it had an odd quality to it, "Harry, I think you should go back inside. It's not safe out here and besides that, someone is bound to notice you out here if you don't go in soon."

Harry nodded though the action was pointless and replied back, "Alright, I'm feeling tired anyway. Night, Voldemort."

"Goodnight, Harry" A soft voice replied before the link closed.

Harry shook his head and decided not to think about the Dark Lord's strange behaviour, or even the fact that they seemed to have some sort of camaraderie going recently. He slipped back into the castle and made his way quickly to his dorms, falling asleep almost the moment his head hit the pillow. He never noticed the glowing yellow eyes following his movement into the castle.

AfterNotes-

(1)The second Full Moon to occur in a single calendar month. The average interval between Full Moons is about 29.5 days, whilst the length of an average month is roughly 30.5 days. This makes it very unlikely that any given month will contain two Full Moons, though it does sometimes happen. On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.
