"How strange it is to be anything at all."

I just finished editing down a year of my life to 15 pages. WHOO.
All my GRE scores and almost all of my transcripts have been sent. It's starting to finally sink in that I'm actually doing this. Just another weekend (or weekend and a half) of being a shut-in and I can relax for a bit.
Professors Picciotto and Landreth are my angels this week for reading all my shit and giving me suggestions. This week has been hard (not least because I got my flu shot Tuesday and it made me sick that night. Like waking up at 1 AM freezing and then waking up again at 4 sweating to death with pounding headache and everything. Plus my usual nausea/stomach), but I'm starting to believe they will get done. I'm very close with the statement and writing sample and then it's just tweaking of the SOP and the hours of administrative bullshit left. A shit ton of work still, of course, but there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, Neutral Milk Hotel is really amazing. Amanda Palmer told the audience this when Katy and I went to see The Dresden Dolls three years ago. Why did I not listen then?
