I suppose I should have taken the warnings I received from Professor Snape a bit more seriously - this is the first time in nearly seven years that I have gotten detention for anything. One would have thought it would have been for something a bit more interesting than not writing in a journal. However I fear that is quite the extent of my escapades.
I believe I have...53 minutes with which I'm to be filling the pages of this stupid journal, however I think writing a few words a minute would suffice, and perhaps I will manage to write as little as possible. I have been informed that private entries defeat the purpose of this journal and that I will not be excused from writing in it at all...
Or, considering Professor Snape is marching about in the front of the classroom, maybe I won't be able to write as few words as possible. How annoying.
I could ask how everyone is doing, but then I might actually get comments and I, in turn, would be required to reply to those, which would take up more time and be exceedingly tedious.
I'm really not sure how this particular project is going to help me with anything, considering it's actually keeping me from my other, more important studies, but then again I'm not privy to the Headmaster's hair-brained ideas thoughts on the matter.
27 minutes to go until I am free to return to my Charms assignments.
...
There is nothing else to say.
13 minutes...
And Professor Snape has turned his back. This is. So pathetic.
[Filter: Private]
I believe the fact that the majority of my 'entry' is visible to the general student body of Hogwarts should suffice. Needless to say, if it doesn't, I'll no doubt be writing again about the boring nature of detention...
However, on something of a more serious note, the books from home - are late. They have never been late before. Perhaps they will arrive tomorrow with the morning mail. If they do not, I will be sending an owl of my own home to discover what's keeping them. And possibly to ask father what I should do about Evan's apparent interest in one Daphne Greengrass. He's far more...suceptible to her particular form of deceit than most, I believe, and he doesn't seem to be listening to reason.

And in three minutes I will be finished with this detention.
...
Detention complete.
