Seriously Pissed Off
I've had something on my mind for the past week and a half and listening to Bush's State of the Union and one thing in particular that he said pushed me over the edge and has drawn me to this journal in order to express this opinion which nobody seems to want to hear.
The Holocaust. Why did we even bother to study it for what equates to about five years of our life? They say so that we will never allow such atrocities to occur again. What a bunch of bull shit they're feeding us. The more I hear the more it seems to me that their main goal is to shove in our faces the fact that another country did something so incredibly bad. Worse than the slavery that the Americas are guilty of. And we, America, came to the poor Jews help. When in reality they were the very last thing on our list during the War. Right now at this very moment. Genocides and Civil Wars are taking place in Africa. Thousands of people are being slaughtered and butchered. And we never hear a single word about it. Why? What the fuck is wrong with us as a country that we can completely submerge ourselves in the Middle East and yet not lift a finger to help those in Africa. Is it Racism? Are we really that shallow and selfish in this day and age? Or is it because we do not fear them? Does it take a threat of a nuclear bomb to make us act upon injustice?
I'm so angry and pissed off I can barley think straight. How can we ignore fellow human beings crying out for help in what for us equates to the house right next door?
