Let me tell you a little story...
Once upon a time there were two best friends. Brittany and Katherine. They skipped school together, cursed a little, drank a little, smoked a little, had a little sex. {not together ;) }
Brittany was so happy to finally have someone who was fun and who understood. Brittany told Katherine about her gay ass family, her fears, and her hopes for the future. She told Katherine that she didn't like the way she was living. Katherine said that she didn't like it either. They both wanted out, but neither did anything about it.
But then the day came when the fun ended. Brittany had reached her breaking point. She was spinning out of control and was very suicidal. Brittany went away for a while to get clean. She came back and looked forward to seeing Katherine again.
Things went alright for a while. They still skipped school together and cursed a little, but everything else had changed. Brittany then had to make the hardest decision. She told Katherine that she couldn't be friends with her anymore. She felt that they had always bonded over drugs and now that Brittany was clean, that there was nothing there. She was afraid that if she stayed around Katherine, she would start again. Katherine was hurt and angry and told Brittany that she was a hypocritical bitch. And she was right. But Brittany was scared.
They now live seperate lives and don't speak. Brittany still wonders how Katherine is doing and if she's happy. She worries about her often. She hears of the things she's doing and it hurts her. She wishes that she could just stop as she did. But she realizes that that is Katherine's choice, not hers. And that it's up to her what she does with her life. Brittany only wishes that one day, maybe when they're older, that they'll get their friendship back. Because Brittany misses Katherine and only wants good things for her, and didn't mean to abandon her.
Katherine found other friends and seems to be happy now. She mentions Brittany sometimes but probably doesn't think of her often.
