instead of going to the office, i have to go to the library of congress. I'm supposed to do some research that is not exactly internet-accessible. So instead of arriving at the library at 10am when I would have arrived at the office.. i'm going to show up late. It's not going to take eight hours, so I figure it's a relaxing day for me. I'm pretty excited-- i have a ton of work to do and I just got a new book yesterday.

this past weekend my family visited me in DC. Nicole flew in thursday afternoon while Julie and my mom drove in that day, arriving around 8 or 9pm. Most of the weekend consisted of touristy things to make my mom happy. She had this ridiculous bobble head from her office of big boy, but labeled "little ray" and she was insistent on taking its picture in front of several national landmarks. it's a good thing she's my mom, or i would have said something! but since it was making her happy, i liked it, too.

nicole, juliet and i went to dc9's electrotease dance party on saturday night. it was a really small and smokey but ultra hip bar. a band played.. they were okay/good but i can't really dance to bands for some reason, and it's not because i'm too cool, trust me! the bassist was a really greasy dude with a gold tooth. anyway, it was definitely the best time i've had so far. i wish julie had danced more with us, but for the times she was on the floor it was fabulous.

so now i have a month or so left here in dc. i'm pretty excited. I think now I have a better grip on the city, so the last month shouldn't be as emotionally draining as the previous two. I think I'll focus more on my research paper and eating out.

thinking of you.
