I think one of most quintessential experiences in life is when you give your body, heart and soul unreservedly to someone who will never feel the same way you do. To know how hurtful unfulfilled longing can be, to have felt the ravages of unrequited love, to catch your breath as pain splinters through your chest. It’s utterly humanizing to surrender yourself without any concern for your own well-being and survival, to just go against every natural instinct of self-preservation and be simply human enough to love another unconditionally.
