Dear Yuletide Santa
Dear yuletide Santa,
First off, thank you for signing up and volunteering to write in one of my fandoms. *g* Secondly, don't worry too much. I'm really easy-going, and if you just can't include the optional details in your fic, it's okay. I'll love just about any well-written fic in any of the four fandoms I requested. That said, here's a list of things I love about my chosen fandoms, as well as a few general things I'd rather not have included.
Request 1 - Stephen King's The Stand: I love how Stu is just an ordinary guy who is forced by extraordinary circumstances to take charge, and how he does it because he knows someone has to. I love how Larry is forced to grow up, and how he discovers that he's actually a good man underneath everything. I love how Stu and Larry probably wouldn't have had anything to do with each other pre-Plague but now are good friends who rely on each other and trust each other. And I even love how Larry dies a hero, standing up for what he knows is right even when it seems hopeless.
Request 2 - Horatio Hornblower (1998 TV): I love how Horatio is so often completely oblivious in social situations, how Archie is the exact opposite and how well the two of them get along anyway. I love how Bush warms to the two of them almost in spite of himself, and how it seems so obvious that if Archie hadn't died the three of them would have gone on to have incredibly wacky adventures on the high seas. (And if you want to write something from one of these hypothetical adventures, I'd love you forever. *g*) I love how the three of them balance each other, and how once they mesh that losing any of them diminishes the whole. Basically, I love how they're three men who would happily die for either of the others, but are also perfectly happy to make the others' lives hell, too.
Request 3 - Kung Fu The Legend Continues: I love how cheesy the show is. I love how really strange, supernatural events can occur and the ordinary characters just sort of sigh, shake their heads and go on. I love how Kermit always wears his sunglasses, and how he thinks that it's his responsibility to look after Peter and how terribly hard Peter makes it for him. I love how Peter and Kermit don't always understand where the other is coming from, or agree with their decisions, but they trust that the other has important reasons for what they're doing.
Request 4 - F/X: The Series: I didn't get to watch nearly enough of this series while it aired due to the network constantly changing around the time on me *growl*snarl* but I loved what I saw. I love how Rollie is doing what he loves, and how competent he is at it. I love how he winds up involved in crazy goings-on, and how he uses his brain to come out on top. Basically, I just love Rollie and will adore almost anything centering around him, so go crazy. *g*
In general, I like fics dealing with relationships between characters, whether platonic or romantic. I prefer fics that end on a positive note; I'm not a fan of unnecessary angst, hurt without comfort, non-con, or death fics (though if you decide to write The Stand and incorporate Larry's death or Hornblower and include Archie's, that's perfectly fine.) I'm not overly concerned with picky points of grammar, so don't worry if you have issues with commas or the like.
Really, so long as the characters are in character and the story is interesting, I'm good. *g*
