Ember Island Players: Second Thoughts
1) That whole scene with Aang and Katara? WHY IS HER BODY LANGUAGE SO SIMILAR TO MINE. No, seriously. That thing where you hold your arm by your elbow, as a "hey I need to do something with my arms why not this?" It's so me. Why?
2) In the same vein, Zuko's behavior seems to reflect a middling crush on Katara. Just a crush, mind you; a sort of "wow, she's really attractive, but I don't even know if I want to go there, but she is hot and I'm a teenage boy somebody help me" thing. As in "why yes, I'm going to stubbornly sit next to her because I don't even have to touch her, just being next to her is all the excitement I really need" and "ho shit I'm going to scoot away now and pretend I've never thought of her like that AT ALL before something really bad happens."*
*while Katara is thinking something along the lines of "WHAT who THOUGHT of that that is completely INSANE I mean just because he has a nice sixpack--wait, what?"
3) Does this mean the cabbage man ships Zutara? I mean, which one of their informants ships Zu--HOMG IT'S IROH. DUDE. IROH HELPED WRITE THIS PLAY.
4) Aang is so short next to her.
5) I love how childish he is in this--not in a bad way, but in a very real way. He has a little trouble disassociating reality from fiction, and he thinks the answer to Katara's confusion lies simply in a kiss from him. God, my heart cracked the moment he gave his little nod and broke the second he said "I thought we'd be together." WHY AANG WHY.
